Alice Hasenstab Obituary

Alice Hasenstab

August 25, 1931 - August 20, 2025

Belleville, Illinois - Alice Biver Hasenstab, 93, of Belleville, IL, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died Wednesday, August 20, 2025, five days short of her 94th birthday.

She was born August 25, 1931, the 9th child of Frank and Fannie Biver, and grew up on the family farm in Belleville. Alice was a proud 1949 graduate of Notre Dame Academy. On January 27, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, George Hasenstab. Together they formed a family and were blessed with five children. Their marriage survived and thrived for 71 years.

As a woman of great faith, she was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, often leading Novenas. Alice and George were generous donors to the St. Vincent DePaul Society and St. Mary Catholic Church, along with countless other charities.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, George Hasenstab, who died on March 3, 2022; her sons, George and Lenny Hasenstab; a granddaughter, Becky Hasenstab; a great-grandson, Finley Esker; her parents, Frank and Fannie, nee Loyet, Biver; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George W. and Virginia, nee Miller, Hasenstab; and her sister-in-law, Pat Campbell.

Her death marks the ending of a great generation of Bivers: Loretta Oehler, Cletus Biver, Leon Biver, Sister Marie Francis Biver, Rita "Rodney" Buehler, Bea Haas, Bernie Schoen, Joan Geolat, and Helen Biver; and many wonderful sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She will be greeted by lifelong friends, Andy and Eileen Orlet.

Alice is survived by three children, Mary (Jim) Frierdich, Julie (Dana Hunsche) Hasenstab, and Tim (Cathy) Hasenstab. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Mary Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
