Who Was Andy Traiteur?
Where do I begin...he was Dad, Papa, Papa B.S. and Andy. He answered to all. He was a great man that was always surrounded by famly and friends that loved him dearly. He would tell a corny joke and laugh at himself. His passions were cattle, sheep goats, rabbits, fishing, riding in his golf cart, bailing hay, going to auctions at Fruitland and stopping at Parkette for a patty melt and a bowl of vegetable soup. He was rarely seen without a cigar. Even though he had to light it a thousand times, he always had one. He had nicknames for many. He called my mom Deenee and everyone else was hired hand or cocky. His golf cart buddy was Kenny and his auction buddy was Vernie and Mom. He bribed all the kids with quarters for the snack machine and soda machine. All they had to do was say B.S. and they had a hand full of money. He wanted desperately to drive that tractor again and bale some hay. He was a father of three, a grandfather to five and a great grandfather to seven. My mom, Dede, spent the last few years of his life taking care of him. For that, she has grown her wings. He depended on her and her commitment to him was extraordinary. My Mom always said, "Good night Dad, see you in the morning"...he would reply, "see you in my dreams'. When she would come back in the morning, he would say, "I knew you would be back, get the truck and trailer we have to go get a bull". He was always ready to get back into being a rancher. He had a great love for his grandkids. Zach and Emma were his favorite hired hands. He wanted to adopt baby Regan. He had pictures of all the great grandkids next to his bed. Every morning he would say good morning to all of them. Traiteurville Stables will never be the same without him. He was always on the porch, sitting in his chair, drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a cigar waiting for the next person to stop by. I am sure that right now, he is in Heaven riding his golf cart and most likely got stuck in a ditch already. This is a time to mourn, remember everything about him and thank God that we had the time with him that we had. We love you and miss you Papa B.S. Until we meet again...If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.

I am so sorry to hear of Andy's passing. I have many fond memories of him and his family, as 35-40 years ago we spent a lot of time with the traiteur family. My sympathies and prayers are with you all at your time of loss.
Your father was an inspiration and happy jolly guy, and very dear to many people.

To the Traiteur Family: I haven't know Andy many years, but the years I have known him I could see the love and the sparkle in his eyes for the kids. That dollar was always in his hand ready to pass to the kids. He loved good jokes and good people who liked to have fun. We will miss Andy at the Halloween party and the pig roasts. Even up till the end he had his sense of humor. I know his passing will leave a large hole in your hearts, but know Andy is in a better place and out of pain. He left behind some really good people that he helped mold, the world is a better place because Andy was in it.
