Michael Baugus Obituary
Michael E. Baugus, 48, of Granite City, Ill., born Dec. 10, 1961, in Granite City, passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at his home.
Michael was the longtime owner and operator of Affordable Dry Wall in Granite City. He served his country in the United States Marines and was a member of AmVets Post 51.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virgie, nee Stanfill, Baugus; and a brother, Tom Baugus.
Surviving are his wife, Whitney, nee Shelton, Baugus; son, Nathan Baugus of Granite City; sister, Jeri "Sissy" (Dennis) Boyce of Granite City; brothers, Joe and Terry Baugus both of Granite City; and his father, Jerry Baugus of Granite City.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: A celebration of his life will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the funeral home with the Pastor David Amsden officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Mike this journey we are on when we are born has a day when our Father says we've had enough, and i guess tho it breaks all of our hearts was your time.Time to live with our true Father, i know he wants us to enjoy this body he gives us when we are born but it's just like a grain of sand in his wonderful world he will bring us all to when our lives here are thur. Taken so young in all our eyes but not in his. come to me with the heart of a child he tells us come to me for whatever you need and sometimes we look the other way and think i'm not ready yet.You leave your loved ones behind to wonder why.Well it's not up to us it's up to him who gaves you the life you so badly wanted and you try and fullfil it in your own way then its time to say good bye to that life and the world he has to offer when we do go with the heart of a child is everlasting you will go on another journey but you are not alone. i Love you Mike and you will and always will live in our hearts forever till we see you when it's our time to come home.You left a wonderful wife and son. he is never alone cause i know you will be watchin him and Whitney from above. Uncle Mike,
I dont even know where to begin at with writing this... Its still very hard for me to comprehend that this is all real, but it is... Well let me tell you what You are and always will be the Greatest uncle a girl could ever have and I am so greatful that I got to spend as much time with you as I did and I got to have you as an uncle and share the proud name Baugus with you... I promise I will watch over Nathan like he is my brother hes really all I got these days besides my mom me and him are so close Uncle Mike you just dont even know, but hes going to make something of himself for you and for himself and for Whitney Imalways there for her to if she neds me and I hope she knows it.. But Your boy He is my Bestfriend and I Love him to death so I promise he will be taken care of... Its going to be very hard not having you with us all at Christmas and 4th of July, but we have the memories like I said Memories are ForEver and ForEver is a NEVER ending story.... Just like that time with the bird, the fireworks Im gunna miss you so much but I know your happy and healthy, and you are with your mom and brother and i miss them both deeply to... Dear Baugus Family,
Mike and his crew remodeled our basement two years ago and my husband and I both thought Mike was such a nice person. We were shocked to read of his passing. He spoke so highly of his wife and child. May God be with you on your journey ahead. We will keep you in our prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about Mike. I did not know him personally, but my brother Bill Smart was a very good friend of Mike's. Bill called me yesterday to tell me that Mike had passed. He was very upset. He talked to Mike on the phone alot since he moved out of state. Mike's passing will leave a huge void in my brother's life. He will miss him dearly.
