Alex Tuttle Obituary

Alex Jay Tuttle 19 of Bellingham, WA passed away March 14, 2012. Alex, an Inupiaq Eskimo was born with cerebral palsy in Anchorage, Alaska on February 10, 1993. He was adopted at birth by Patrick and Darlene Tuttle. He lived his entire life in Bellingham with Pat, Darlene and older cousin/brother Ash Harvey. Alex suffered a massive seizure and died as a result of cardiac failure.
Alex was in school and truly blessed to have had so much love and support from the staff and students of the Meridian School District. He had so many special friends who helped him because of his special needs. His zest for life was obvious to all who knew him. He enjoyed life to the fullest, his music, making lots of noise, horse back riding in his earlier days, taking long baths, and hanging out with his incredible care givers who gave his life a joy that is not easily explained for a child who could not sit, stand, walk or talk.
Alex is survived by his parents and Ash, His Grandparents: Doreen Harvey of Sumas, Margaret (Tuttle) and Dale McLellan, Bellevue, WA. Jack and Sally Tuttle, Redmond, WA. Aunts and Uncles: Larry and Rhonda Harvey, Don and Pam Harvey, Linda and Bernie Van Diest, David and Terri Harvey, Sue Harvey, Kathy and Bob Wanker, and Kate and Van Gamble as well as numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday March 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Fox Hall located at 3985 Bennett Drive, Bellingham, WA. Pastor Jack Kintner will officiate. Cremation arrangements by Gillies Funeral Home
He had many special people in his life but truly would put Auntie Terri Harvey, Tami Marcos and Teacher Judy Kononen at the top of his list. They were a dream come true to Alex every single time he saw them.
Alex was innocence and unbridled love and joy at its finest.
Some of Alex's happiest moments were when he was on the back of Bigley a wonderful therapy horse and mom's horse Mikey. A donation in his name to Pediatric NDT & SI Therapy Services, 348 W. King Tut Road, Bellingham, WA 98226 360-398-2772 rather than flowers would no doubt delight Alex and also provide more equipment to allow other disabled children to experience the joy of riding a horse.

I got the distinct pleasure of getting to meet Alex on the school bus to Meridian Middle School. I was just a substitute bus driver,(so I didn't get to see him every day) but he held a special place in my heart. His eyes always lit up when I saw him and it was pure joy for him to go to school.

I never knew you, yet I love you still. I can only imagine the mansion in heaven he is building for you and your family in heaven preparing for the day when you can see him run to you, pick you up in his arms and tell you how much he loves you too. What a precious gift it must have been to have him in your life so you could witness unexplainable joy with your own eyes and heart. I am also truly sorry for your loss and the pain that follows such a loss. My prayer for your family is that the pain will ebb quickly and never his memory or his love. May God be with you and your family at this time and know that my heart is with you.

Darlene and Pat, words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I had the pleasure of having Alex in my life for short periods of each day while driving him to school. It did not matter what problems I was having that day, the minute I saw that smile, I smiled. I loved him truly and feel very privileged to have had him in my life. He touched so many people and will be missed by many. My thoughts are with you and your family.
