Austin Clark Obituary

Austin "Bill" Clark

January 24, 1955 - April 26, 2025

Blaine, Washington - Austin "Bill" Clark, born January 24, 1955, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Birch Bay, Washington.

Bill lived a full and adventurous life rooted in the Pacific Northwest. An avid skier, he spent two decades working at Mt. Baker Ski Area, where he not only shared his passion for the mountains but also built a strong community of friends that became family. When he wasn't on the slopes, you could find him out on the water, salmon fishing from his beloved boat, the Pursuit - enjoying the beauty of the San Juan Islands and Salish Sea.

A loyal sports fan, Bill faithfully cheered on the Mariners, Seahawks and Huskies, no matter the season or score. But his greatest pride and joy came from being a dad and grandpa. He was a loving father to Austin, Ryan, and Kelsea, and a proud grandfather to Luka, Huxley, and Kade. His strength, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill's life will be celebrated privately by his family. In his honor, consider hitting the slopes, casting a line, or watching a game with someone you love - just the way Bill would have wanted. Bill is survived by his children, grandchildren, and siblings Tori and Reid.

I chuckle when I think back to the days of bowling leagues and the echo of "Boom Baby!"
Bill you will always be remembered forever in the light of our hearts. Your memory will never fade and your life was a blessing to us all

I met Bill as many of you did, 'at the mountain'. We worked hard. We played hard. And we had a lot of good times together.

I rode with him in Annabelle on a 'bottle recycling' run once where there was barely room for him to drive and me to ride.
And too many other stories to share here...

My condolences to Reid, Tori and the rest of the family.

I met Bill in the winter of 1974 working up at the Mt Baker Ski Area . He and Dean Lee took me under their wing as the third wheel and it turned out to be some of my fondest memories of my young pre adult adventures. There was a reason why his nickname was `Wild Bill ` because he was crazy and wild but in a fun way . I remember seeing a picture of this skier in a full backflip off a huge jump in the spring sun and wondered who this crazy guy was. It was Bill ! I recall driving in his beat up station wagon " Anebelle´ up and down to Glacier in terrible conditions but I always felt Bill had complete control and we always made it . Bill had such a zest for life and had such a great sense of humor but there was a tender sweet spot in there as well. Farewell my friend you will be missed!

Bill... memories ... many... a few...you pitching me minimum 250 balls before I got a hit. You were unexpectedly patient and supportive, my friend. Rescuing us on Bham Bay after epic salmon fishing with Jimmy Buffett. Pass on my love to him, to Bunny, and to you, always. Carry on... wherever...
