Barry Anderson Obituary

Barry Anderson
May 29, 1961 - May 10, 2022
Bellingham, Washington - The sun shines a little less brightly as we mourn the passing of Barry Anderson, who left us on May 10th, 2022 after his battle with cancer. Barry was a loving father, son, Brother, Uncle and devoted husband to his wife Bing of 20 years.
Born on May 29th, 1961, Barry lived in and loved Bellingham as his home his whole life. After graduating from Bellingham High School in 1979, he started his trade as an Ironworker under Local Union 86 at the age of 19. He took pride in his work with all the structures he helped build over the years. As an avid baseball fan and supporter of the Seattle Mariners, he was especially proud to have contributed to the building of the Safeco Field stadium (now T-Mobile Park), which was completed in 1999.
Due to the nature of his trade, Barry worked on projects near and far. When he accepted the opportunity to work on a project in Leyte, Philippines under Kiewit Construction, that opened up before him a path of discovery and appreciation of the world at large. Barry fell in love with the Philippines – its people, its culture, and its natural beauty. He took every opportunity to go back and visit frequently. Unbeknownst to him, he was also on the path that would lead him to the love of his life, whom he met while visiting the island of Cebu.
An athlete in his youth, Barry loved and played all sorts of sports including pole vault. It was his greatest source of pride and enjoyment to watch his son play baseball. He was his son's biggest fan and steadfast supporter during baseball season. Barry was always generous with his time.He enjoyed summers spent crabbing with family and friends, who will miss the wonderful smoked salmon that he made and shared with them every season.
Barry's love for the Filipino culture did not end after his visits to the Philippines. He was an active member and served as an officer of the Filipino-American Association of Whatcom County. He had always looked forward to serving during the annual community meal program. He was loved and appreciated by so many in the association.
He was preceded in death by his father Melvin "Bob" Anderson and Mother Beverly Hitchcock Anderson. He is survivedby his wife Babelyn "Bing" Anderson, daughters Trina Anderson and Reah Sibay, son Conner Anderson; granddaughter Paitin; sisters Bonnie Johnson(Jeff) of Chehalis; Brynn Chadwick (Aaron) of Seattle; brother Robert "Bobby" Anderson of Bellingham, and many nephews and nieces.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who sent cards, flowers, funds and offering of prayers to Barry's family . We deeply appreciate your support during this difficult time.?
There will be a Celebration of Barry's Life on Saturday, June 25th at 5:00 PM to be held at the Bellingham Yacht Club.
