Justin Compton Obituary

On Feb. 5, 2010 Gus was doing what he loved when a logging accident took his life on a hillside near Darrington, WA. Gus would have celebrated his 27th birthday on Mar. 8, 2010. Gus graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 2001. He enjoyed playing football and wrestling. After graduating he enjoyed helping out in the wrestling room, riding his four-wheeler, hanging out with friends, and playing with his niece and nephew. Gus was a loving son, brother, and uncle to his family: Jake and Jill Compton; Jerod, Jaymie, and Rebecca Priebe; Jodie, Rachel, and Gavin Compton. He will also be missed by his aunts and uncles: Micheal and Linda Smith, Greg and Lori Younkin, Jay Compton, Paul and Claudelle Willis, Scott and Sheryl Willis, and many cousins. Gus was preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Arlene Compton; and Rod and Dorothy Willis. A viewing will be held Thurs., Feb. 11, from 2 to 8 pm at Greenacres on Northwest. A memorial service will be held at the Deming Log Show Grounds on Fri. Feb. 12th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Justin's name to Industrial Credit Union.

God knows your pain and promises to be with those that are "broken at heart and those crushed in spirit he saves."

Jake, Jill, all my cousins, and your families,

It is with great sadness I look upon Gus's photograph and see bits and pieces of you all, especially you, Jake. I am thinking of you and praying for you every day. I appreciate reading about Gus's sense of humor and I love knowing that he carried that gift, from his Dad, from his Grandma, through his too short life. We are so sorry for your loss. You are in our hearts and prayers. All our Love, Brenda and Guy.

To the Compton Family,
I didn't know your son, but being a mom of kids in that same age range, I can't even imagine what you must be going through. Losing a child long before their time is just not right. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

I grew up with Gus. From Kindergarten on, we were in school together. He always made the best of things, and in the worst of moments, he always knew how to make everyone laugh. And that is how I will always remember him: Gus, your sense of humor, amazing spirit, and your ability to push us all forward with laughter and joy will not only be remembered, but will live on. You have planted this in all of us who had the pleasure of knowing you, even if for so very brief. I will miss you.

Compton Family...
It was with deep sadness we heard of Gus's passing! As a logging family it deeply hurts when an accident claims a life, escpecially one so young! Our son and daughter went to school with Gus and enjoyed him immensely. Please know that we are lifting you daily and often in prayer: "God please hold the compton family, the logging crew, and all friends of Gus in Your loving arms; give them the peace that passeth all understanding Lord; we ask this day." God Bless.

A bit rough around the edges (in a good way) and a huge smile on his face...that is how I will always remember Gus. In the 15 years since I was in high school I have only seen him a handful of times. But every time I got a hand shake and hug with a big slap on the back...that was the kind of guy he was.
Compton Family & friends of Gus...I am sorry for your loss.

Gus was such a genuine person, no aires, no apologies, just life out loud and intense. So strong, yet somehow vulnerable too. That mischievious grin and perpetual twinkle in his eyes. He left an impression on everyone he met, and whether man, woman, boy or girl, he held a soft spot in your heart because he was just who he was. I hope that everyone that loves him can look forward to the day they can join him for some fun in Heaven. May the Peace of the Lord be with you all in your hour of sorrow, but don't weep too long, because you know Gus wouldn't want that.

Gus was the life of the party! Anyone who met Gus would never forget Gus. He was the guy that could gross me out to where I'm running for the bathroom, but yet I can't make it because I'm rolling around in laughter. I love you Man! My heart goes out to all the family and friends of Justin.

Dear Jake, Jill, Jody, Jaime and families,
Our hearts ache knowing the hurt you are feeling. Although we have lost touch since the kids graduated, know all those wrestling tournaments and time spent together are wonderful memories. Gus was an outstanding young man, who gave so much to us all and always with a smile.

To the Compton Family, May each of you find comfort in knowing that God is "near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." (Psalm 34;18) He has promised to soon "swallow up death forever...and wipe the tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25;8) Take care,

Things were a mess for me the day I stopped at IGA at Nugents Corner to get a fast lunch. I had my 15yr old daughter, 3 dogs 1 bird and a car packed to the roof. I had a long drive in front of me , so when the car wouldn't start, I started to cry. Then this young man stop to ask if he could help. He took jumper cables and jumped my car with his. I never knew who he was and his kind heart that day put a smile on my face. Today I now know that this wonderful person who helped me was Justin Compton. To his family I send prayers

Gus was an awesome friend. I haven't seen him in years but it doesn't surprise me he was a logger, Gus, Jodie and I were always cutting trees out back there place, and not always to the approval of Jake, life as kids you never think about the future so we always had fun. In many things I do, I think about the Compton boys and the fun and trouble we had, those memories and others will never fade and always make me smile. The Lord blessed us all in knowing Gus, and now the Lord has blessed Gus with a heavenly home, We should all hope to reach our goal of getting to heaven, and re-uniting with Gus and our other loved ones. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ Be with your spirit.Amen.
