Rita Hatch Obituary

Rita Hatch
January 21, 1935 - November 30, 2020
Bellingham, Washington - It is with great sadness that Leonard Hatch shares the passing of his beautiful wife of 65 years, Rita Yvonne Hatch, on November 30, 2020 from her battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband, Leonard, daughter Vicki (Tal) Miles, son Greg (Pam) Hatch, numerous grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Ron, and her daughter Brenda who died in 1999. Rita lovingly raised Brenda's children, Ryan, Brady, and Sammi as her own.
Rita enjoyed painting, dancing, and time with her family and friends, especially the gang at the VFW. At her request, there will not be a memorial.

My grandmother had a Heart of Gold. The most selfless woman you'd ever meet. I love you and miss you Grandma!

Even up until my Grandmother's very last minute on this Earth, she never said a single bad word about anyone. Always putting others before herself, her entire life. She was a woman of her word, always. My grandmother stopped at nothing to make sure that my brother's and I felt loved, wanted and important our entire childhoods after my mom (her daughter) passed away when I was just five years old. At a time in her life when she should have been enjoying her retirement with my Grandpa Leonard, after her three children were out of the house and married, she lovingly took in 3 more and started the raising of small children all over again- Selflessly. All so that we wouldn't have to ever go to a different school, lose our friends we'd grown up with in our neighborhood, and ultimately go to a new home with potential new "parents" and new everything. She sacrificed her well earned retirement so that we wouldn't have to be traumatized or scared or be placed anywhere unfamiliar to us. Instead, she took us in, with open arms. Never once complaining about anything. The everyday school lunches she packed for us, Grandpa walking us up the street to the bus stop each morning, them both going to every sporting event and dance recital that we both were in, every year. She was my biggest cheerleader. As I grew older, she also became my friend. However, she was always my sweet loving Grandma. I will never forget her and the woman that she was. I know that she is in heaven with Jesus right now. I also know that God has rewarded her in heaven with all the good works she did while she was here on earth. So, until we see you again, on that day when we will be reunited, when all the tears will be wiped from our eyes and our minds, and ultimately- where we will never lose you again, I want to say I love you Grandma and thank you for being the woman that you were
