Matthew Lundblade Obituary

Beloit, WI - Matthew Thomas Lundblade "Irish Hurricane", 41, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Beloit Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on December 29, 1983 in Beloit, WI, the son of Thomas Lundblade and Wendy Bundy. Matthew was a 2002 South Beloit High School graduate. He married Megan Long on July 4, 2020. Matthew was diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain Cancer in 2021 and fought the most courageous battle for 3 years. He was truly a warrior! Matthew did it all for his children that he loved and adored more than anything in the world. He was formerly employed by the City of South Beloit in the Parks Department for 10 years. Matthew later worked at Fairbanks Morse for 11 years. Faith was very important to him; he was a member of Central Christian Church and never missed a service. Matthew loved classic cars, antiquing, and going to auctions. He loved music, had many favorite songs he played in remembrance for family members, and could be found staying up all night singing. Matthew loved helping people and would drop everything he was doing to help anyone. He was very sentimental and was big on family traditions and gatherings. Matthew's favorite holiday was St. Patrick's Day, he was known as the "Irish Hurricane." Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. His children were the highlight of his life! Survivors include his children, Brooke and Noah; wife, Megan Lundblade; step daughters, Alisa, Kyanna, Kim, and Laura; father, Thomas Lundblade; brothers, Richie (LeaAnn) Armstrong and Sean Lundblade; sisters, Melanie Wescom and Candie Hamilton; special uncle to: Carter, Chance, Kynlee, and Emory; uncles, Bruce (Laurie) Bundy and Richard (Lisa) Bundy; special cousin, Donya Bundy (Jordan Wolfe); mom-in-law, Laurie and Richard Shaw; father-in-law, Greg Long; sister-in-law, Morgan (Brandon) Wixom; life long friend, Chris Gusner and many other close friends; and family members. Matthew was predeceased by his mother, Wendy Bundy; step father, Larry Taylor; aunts, Sherry Haldeman and Robin Smith; uncles, Michael Smith, Terry Lundblade, and Mick Lundblade; grandmothers, Marlene Smith and Roberta Lundblade; grandfathers, Harold "Smitty" Smith and Arthur Lundblade; great-grandmother, Helena Johnston; and cousin, Jamie Eley. The family would like to give a special thank you to Matthew's special cousin and like a sister, Donya for taking excellent care of him until the end.
