Louise Cella Obituary

Louise F. Cella, 98, died on June 28, 2024 at Berkshire Place, where she had lived for a year and a half. Born in Pittsfield on December 28, 1925, she was the daughter of John Fossa and Helena Sutty Fossa and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Her husband, Dr. Robert J. Cella died on October 21, 2020. Three sisters, Elena Tamburello, Claire Youse and Joan Gunnells and a daughter-in-law, Janet E. Cella died before her. She leaves a sister-in-law, Doris Cella Pullano, of Naples, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews.

The mother of four children, twins, Dr. Robert J. Cella, Jr., and, Karyn Cella Barbalunga (Ermino), and of Dr. J. Steven Cella (Ellen) and Dr. Jeffrey Cella (Michelle); Louise was a devoted mother as well as a beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren and to seven great-grandchildren. She frequently stated that the happiest moments of her life occurred at family events like holiday gatherings, weddings, graduations and when helping with new grandchildren.

A member of the Pembury Bridge Club, Louise loved to play contract bridge. She was active with the Red Cross and served as a board member of the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association. The Cella family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff members at Pine Hill Assisted Living, Berkshire Place and at HospiceCare in the Berkshires, who provided compassionate care to Louise at different times during the past several years. The Cella family appreciates the support and compassion Gabby at Berkshire Place provided during Louise's time there. We would also like to recognize and thank Dorothy Dascani for her friendship and the many cards and bouquets she sent.

For those wanting to make memorial donations, the family requests donations go in Louise's name to the South Congregational Food Pantry or to Soldier On. The Dery Funeral Home will facilitate donations if mailed to them at 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Steve, Karyn, Rob and Jeffry , Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your wonderful mother. I remember her as having the sunniest personality. I also remember her enthusiasm for golf and fondness of Arnie Palmer when she and "the Doc" would watch the tournaments . She always had the healthiest and beautiful flowers hanging outside the house. May your dearest memories comfort each of you. Peace and love, Debra Pelkey Aylor

Dear Cella Family,
I am sending my deepest condolences to the family. I remember Dr. And Mrs Cella coming into the grocery store. If I was there I usually helped her out so we didn´t have to hold up Dr. Cella who,was waiting.
