Robert Barile Obituary
An alumnus of Pittsfield High School, Robert embarked on a career as a machinist at General Electric in Pittsfield. From 1946-1948, Robert proudly served in the United States Navy where he dedicated himself to his duties with vigor and commitment, earning a World War II Vic-tory Medal. After his military service, his passion for culinary arts led him to a distinguished role as a chef at Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox, where he was known for his exceptional culinary skills.
Robert's love for exploration was evident in his annual travels to Europe from 1984 to 2004, a tradition that enriched his life with diverse cultures and experiences.
Robert was predeceased by his husband, Richard LaRochelle; his parents, Joseph J. Barile and Florence (Chichetti) Barile; and siblings, Rosemary Crossin and Joseph Barile Jr. He is survived by his brother, Anthony Barile (Christine); niece, Ann-Marie Harris (David) nephews, James Crossin (Trina), Anthony Barile, David Barile (Melissa), and Mark Barile; along with six great-nieces and nephews, six great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins all of whom will miss him dearly.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held November 4, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford, St., Pittsfield, MA, followed by a funeral home service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trevor Project or your favorite PBS television station, causes that were dear to Robert's heart.
