Geraldine Wheeler Obituary

Geraldine "Gerri" Wheeler, of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully at age 94. She was born to Halla Wheeler and Lila (Baker) Yarrington on January 19, 1931, in Lansing, Michigan.
What brought Gerri the most joy was people helping others, chatting at Dibble's Five and Dime, and spending time with her family. Many locals knew her as "Little Miss Dibbles." Gerri could make people laugh even on their worst days; the sound of her laugh itself would make you smile. She would drop anything to help those who needed it. In addition to the Dibbles Five and Dime, Gerri worked for years at Goodwill, from which she retired at 80 years old.
Gerri is survived by her sisters, Grace Kitelinger and Eleanor Spedowske, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by both parents, as well as her step-father, Melvin Yarrington; and 10 of her siblings, Lila Lunsted, Velma Keckler, Hattie Smith, Mary Yarrington, Shirley Holmes, Agnes Waite, Alice Waite, Halla Wheeler, Melvin Yarrington, and Charles Yarrington.
Gerri's family would like to give special thanks to Corewell Health Hospice, Eleanor Spedowske, Mary Herring, Colene Myers, Gail Male, and Dan Spedowske.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Charity Baptist Church of Paris beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. A church luncheon will follow the funeral. Geraldine will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice in Geraldine's name.

J remember my mom telling me that Geraldine assisted in taking care of me when i was a baby,,,back in 1951.
