ST. PAUL, Minn. - Joyce M. Hendrickson was born in Jamestown, N.D., Sept. 8, 1951. She lived with her family on the Hendrickson homestead in Adrian, N.D., until she was in the first grade. The family then moved to Billings, where Joyce enjoyed her youth.
After graduating from Billings Senior High School, she attended Rocky Mountain College and majored in Art. Joyce was a gifted and talented artist in many media including metal sculpture, clay, charcoal, oil and watercolor paint. Portraits of people were her specialty. Joyce would choose her portrait subjects from the people she met on her many and varied travels. She had the ability to capture their personality and soul.
Joyce was a very vivacious and spirited person who lived life on her terms. Her smile, charm, and wit could light up a room and make everyone feel like a close friend or family.
Joyce became one with the universe on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She is survived by her mother, Irene Hendrickson Koehn (Jamestown, N.D.); Orval and Gidget Hendrickson (Billings); Arvin and Virginia Hendrickson (Jamestown, N.D.); Skip and Crystal Stanaway (Tualatin, Ore.); and her 12 nieces and nephews and their families.
She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
A service and burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 1721 Central Ave., Billings, on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 9:30 a.m.
