PLENTYWOOD - Memorial services for Sherry Sebastian will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29. Father Patrick Zabrocki will officiate at the service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plentywood. Cremation has taken place, with interment of cremated remains to be in Rock Springs Cemetery, west of Reserve, later in the year. Sherry died of natural causes on Dec. 1, 2010, at her granddaughter's home in Hawaii; she was 47.
Sherry Sebastian was born in Plentywood on April 17, 1963, to Allen and Marlene Bummer of Reserve. She had one brother, Glen, in 1964 and one sister, Machelle, in 1976. She graduated from Medicine Lake High School in 1981 and had one year of college in Billings. She married Joe Sebastian in 1982, and divorced in 2007.
Sherry worked her way up through the hospital's laundry room to Plentywood's Medical Clinic as a Medical Office Assistant from 1990 to 1996. As she wanted to have holidays, weekends and evenings with her family, she worked at Plentywood High School as a Teacher's Aide from 1997 to 2001. In 2001 she moved to Hilo, Hawaii, with her family.
She worked as the Assistant Manager for Koehnen's Interiors from 2001 to 2007. When she moved to Kailua-Kona, she worked as a Home Health Aide through Care Resource Hawai'i. She loved her patients, and her patients loved her.
Sherry was a very strong and nurturing person with a passion for life. Her infectious smile and laugh would light up a room. She loved the outdoors: horse riding and motorcycling, planting flowers, camping, and spending time with family and friends at the lake. She was especially blessed with the ability to care for people, not only in her medical profession, but for all ... by always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren dearly. They were her life. She was a free spirit who loved the wonderful people and culture of Hawaii. Her heart was home when sitting on the beach, especially when accompanied by family: the sound of the ocean's gentle sway upon the beach, the warm kiss of the sun, the flowers' sweet aroma combined with the salty breeze as she lay upon the sand, the vibrant color of nature and children's innocent laughter.
She was a beautiful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, companion, friend and aunty. She will be greatly missed, but we find peace in knowing she is with God now, and her spirit is with all of us every day. We love you always and forever.
Sherry is survived by her mother and father, Allen and Marlene Bummer, of Reserve; her brother, Glen and his wife Paula, and their children Cassidy and Ally, of Reserve; her sister, Machelle Pochant and her husband Mike, and their children Machaela and Bristol, of Bismarck, N.D.; her daughter Danielle and her son Tre, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; her son, Jarett and his companion Chassidy, and their children Sofia Marie and Sativa, of Hilo, Hawaii; and her daughter, Vandy and her friend Mahioli'i of Kawaihae, Hawaii; her companion and friend, Keith Kahiwa, of Captain Cook, Hawaii; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, hanai family, and friends of the mainland and Hawai'i.
