Our beautiful mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, Shirley Murdock, passed away Sept. 10, 2016, after a long, but courageous battle with Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia lymphoma. She was born Nov. 5, 1950, the oldest child of Frank and Alice Peterson, of Billings.
She was a proud mother of two children Lizette and Richie. Shirley married the love of her life, Steve Murdock, on Jan. 17, 1992, in Salt lake City, Utah. Shirley lived in Great Falls, Sandy Utah, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, before moving home to Billings 10 years ago. Shirley enjoyed skiing, golfing, watching football with her husband and was involved with the Relay For Life organization in Billings as a member of the "Nip it in the Bud" team.
She ran a successful Mary Kay business and was a Sales Director for over 20 years. Shirley was very crafty and sold her knitting and decorations at local craft fairs and boutiques. Her family was always well equipped with personalized ski hats, the kind with Pom-Poms on top, and many matching outfits. Shirley and her family often played cards and bingo together.
She is survived by her husband Steve, her children Lizette (Jerry) McPhie and Richie (Autumn) Douglas, her parents, Frank and Alice Peterson, her four siblings Sharon (Bob) Wooton, Sue (Curt) Schelle, Dan Peterson, and Dean (Diane) Peterson. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren: Kailey and Rene Carter, Alyssa (Christian) Decker, Lancer and Ryker Douglas; and two great-grandchildren Mya and Maddox Decker. She was surrounded by many wonderful and supportive nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many friends.
If Shirley were here with us, she would remind us all to be Awake, Alert, Alive and enthusiastic!
Services will be at 2 p.m., Sept. 24, at East Gate Wesleyan church located at 625 Mattson Lane, Billings.
