Donna Stephens Creed
Donna Stephens Creed, 77, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, surrounded by her family. Donna was the office manager of her late husband's medical practice in Elizabethtown. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Donna will be long remembered for her tremendous generosity, kindness toward all she met, and her wonderful sense of humor. If you were lucky enough to meet Donna, you would never forget her.
Donna was born April 4, 1946, to the late Brauden Alexander Stephens and Sadie Ammons Stephens. She was a graduate of Lumberton High School and Pembroke State University with a degree in teaching. She met her husband of 42 years, the late Dr. Don W. Creed, while they were both students at Pembroke State.
Donna was an avid lover of wildlife and spent years working with her late husband in the treatment and rehabilitation of animals indigenous to Eastern North Carolina. It was common for Donna to have baby raccoons, opossums, squirrels, crows, beavers, and fawns in her care, and often living in her home, while she raised them from infancy when their mothers could not. She continued to adore and spoil all of the critters in her backyard until her passing.
Donna's greatest joy in her life were her children and grandchildren. She was "Dee Dee" to her six grandchildren and every time she saw one of them, always had a piece of candy for them, old-timey songs to sing to them, and a funny story to tell them.
Donna's giving and compassionate heart will forever be remembered by all who loved and cared for her. She will be greatly missed.
Donna is survived by her son, Don W. "Skipper" Creed, Jr. and his wife, Laura, and their children, Ben and Sam of Southern Pines; two daughters, Jacquelyne G. "Gigi" Creed-Enloe and her husband, Mark, and their children, Tucker, Gianna, and Jonsie of Elizabethtown, and Penelope V. "Penny" Creed and her son, Creed, of Southern Pines.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that consideration be given to donations to the N.C. Wildlife Endowment Fund, 1710 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1710; and the Tim Tebow Foundation, 2220 County Road 210 W., Ste. 108 PMB 317, Jacksonville, FL 32259.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:30pm on Monday, December 18th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A private burial will be held at a later date
