Anthony Berardi Obituary

BERARDI, Anthony Passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 after a 3 year courageous battle with colon cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dolores (DeCusio) Berardi, his son Michael Berardi and his wife Carol of Pepperell, MA, daughter Debbie Berardi Christensen and her husband David of Laguna Beach, CA. Tony adored his four grandchildren, Ashley Stowers & husband Greg, Hailey Jodat, Victor Berardi and Tatum Berardi. He is also survived by his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Nick Tulipani of Palm Desert, CA, Lucy and Jack Bilodeau of Norwood, MA, and Terri and Raymond Beaudreau of Murphys, CA. He was also the brother to the late John Berardi of Oakland, CA and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Anthony, also known as Tony and affectionately as Sonny or Bibby, grew up in Jamaica Plain, MA and raised his family in Hyde Park, MA. He had a 43 year career with United Airlines as a Manager at Logan Int'l Airport. After retiring, he and Dolores moved to Tewksbury, MA.Tony loved spending time with family and friends, gardening (especially growing tomatoes, basil and peppers!), and was an active member of United Retirees club, the Nor'Easters. He loved to travel and was so thrilled to tour Italy visiting the neighborhoods of his relatives. His travels took him right up to the last weeks of his life when he fulfilled a long time wish to take a cruise; which he did with his family, his strong will and determination leading the way! His personality, kindness and carefree way of life was infectious. He was an amazing father and husband, always putting his family's needs before himself. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of the life of Anthony Berardi will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Tewksbury Country Club from 10am - 2pm. Uncle Tony, for so many years I remember hearing Uncle Tony was coming to town, and it would fill our hearts with anticipation. My Mom and Dad would get so excited that he was coming, and the excitement was contagious. Even after the 2007 Lake Tahoe trip (when we found out the bad news) - every time he would come out to California - or this last year when we went to Massachussetts - there was great joy, laughter, and that party mood, in being around Tony. I will miss him, but I'm happy for the memories which will never leave me.

Delores, Debbie, and Michael - I'm so glad you all had a little more time with him than we thought 3 years ago. In the end, we all want just that, a little more time. A little more time to appreciate who we are with, and how much we love them.

Ciao Uncle Tony Ciao
With love, respect, and all of my heart
Ciao

Michael, Debbie your like a brother and sister to me, a lot of great childhood memories. Going to your house or getting together with you guys and Tony and Del was better than a trip to Disneyland! Tony had a laugh and infectious smile that could light up a room and make you forget your problems. Your Dad gave so much to this world and the fruits of his labor show through both of you. He will be forever in my heart. I love you guys.

The most important gift we can give is through the way we live our lives, and Tony was a great gift to my family. Tony will always be an inspiration to me personally. He loved being with people and having great conversation. He would talk to strangers, bus drivers and pretty much anyone else. I love you Tony.
