I never met Arthur, so call me an intruder. But the tales that Bill has told me must be retold as they are part of the Lomker lore that should be handed down, and Bill, better known back then as Paul, has told me scores of the fun and yes, devastation wrought by the Doddtown Strutter Gang led by Werner, Art and Jimmy. Nothing bad mind you, just disruptive stuff. But there was a war going on, and serious business was part of their lives as well. Mr. Lomker put them all to work deburring submarine parts in the cellar of their home . . . a penny for each. I dated the two older brothers and can attest to their gentlemen attributes.

New Arthur from grammar school through HS and college, plus after. Great friend and confident. The family brought me in as one of them and did we have fun. From one end of Doddtown to the other we raised hell. Sports kept us going and we watched over Barbara like hawks. His Mom and Dad, altho strict, kept us in line, and during the summers we worked like dogs on the links as caddies. I lost track of Arthur for awhile when he went into the Airforce until one day I stopped off in Concord, Ma. for a late afternoon drink, and low and behold at the end of the bar in civilian clothes was Art, reading a newspaper. He had recently been discharged and was looking for a job. Hadn't changed. So glad he found a good life after. He certainly deserved it. Great memories to a great guy.
