Augustus Eustis Obituary

EUSTIS, Augustus William Age 63, died peacefully on January 8, 2012 of complications from Early-Onset Alzheimer's. Loving husband of the Reverend Patricia Eustis; loving and proud father of William, Susan, Augustus, Kathryn and Bryan; grandfather of John Widiger; son of the late Mary (Armstrong) and William E.C. Eustis; survived by twin brother Frederic and sister-in-law Lisa Eustis; sisters Elspeth Taylor and Polly Eustis; and 18 first cousins. Gus grew up in Cambridge, graduated from Browne & Nichols School and Harvard College in 1971. His successful career in computer programming included development of the first electronic voting machine and pioneering work on bar-code recognition. He loved outdoor sports, working with his hands and spending time with his family. His life ended far too early but his generosity and unwavering love still serve as inspiration for those he left behind. Funeral services: Thursday, January 12, 3pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, Concord, MA. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation; alzinfo.org.
