C. GLOVSKY Obituary

GLOVSKY, Dr. C. Joel Of Boca Raton, FL and Falmouth, MA, died peacefully with his children by his side on January 24th at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Frances M. (DeAngelis) Glovsky. Devoted father of Geof Glovsky and wife Julie of Scottsdale, AZ, Lisa Zeien and husband Scott of North Falmouth, MA, Pam Glovsky of Las Vegas, NV, and Jessica Bennett and husband Dan of Bow, NH. Joel was the adored Papa of Taylor, Jenna, Samantha and Lauren Glovsky; Chris, Nicole and Ryan Zeien; Sarah Vennochi; Sam and Will Bennett. He was the brother of the late Dr. Michael Glovsky. For five years, Joel had a wonderful relationship with Miriam Coffman and her family. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Terese Adams and MaryJean DeAngelis and many nieces and nephews.

Dr. Glovsky was born in Boston on January 31, 1933, and grew up in Ware, MA. He attended Tilton School where he graduated in 1950. He went on to Tufts University and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 1957. After a two year commitment with the Navy, Dr. Glovsky entered Tufts University School of Dental Medicine post doctoral residency program in Orthodontics and received his specialty certificate in 1961.

Dr. Glovsky was an assistant clinical professor in the Orthodontic residency program at Tufts for over fifteen years. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1978. He practiced in the profession he loved for 55 years and was highly regarded by his fellow colleagues and patients.

Besides a successful career in orthodontics, Joel was an accomplished businessman. He took two companies public: Standish Care Company and Omega Orthodontics and had many other business interests.

Joel loved golf, single malt scotch, a good cigar, gin rummy, Las Vegas, fishing, boating, a funny story or joke. Most of all he loved being with his family and friends. He was a dedicated father and an extra special grandfather. Joel had a large number of friends and extended family who will miss him dearly. He was smart, funny and tough yet caring to all who knew him.
