I was saddened to hear of Don's passing but glad that he had the last year or so with family that he had been missing. When I joined the Wilmington, NC "Cape Fear Chordsmen" there was quite a famous tenor among the singers. Don had sung with the Four Rascals Quartet, a Barbershop Harmony Society medalist quartet. He wasn't just a fine singer, he was a fine and generous human being. I was fortunate to join with Don and Wally Bader and Jim Bader to deliver hundreds of "Singing Valentines" over the years which gave joy and comfort to many. I miss Don but cherish the time we had together.

I sang for 10 or more years between 2006 and 2018 with Don in a quartet including my father for valentine's day lovesong deliveries. We always had fun and laughs. We once sang for a nurse from her husband in desert storm and were on the local news. Don was interviewed many times throughout the years for his charming attitude towards the singing society and fortunate recipients. I have missed Don over his last year in NC and am happy he got to spend time with his children/families up "there" over the last year or so. I thought of Don as a second father and uncle role model. I miss him dearly now. I can be reached at [email protected] if you'd like to see photos from his time down here in Wilmington.

Sorry for the family and barbershop community's loss. Happened on the woodshed room at my first Convention in Montreal 2003, was invited to sing Sittin' On Top of the World with tenor Don, some lucky bass, and Tommy Spirito sang bari and told me to "sing my (his) part." Don was a Convention friend, always a gracious gentleman who indulged my fond memory of "singing with the big boys."

Blessed to happen upon the woodshedding room at my first convention in Montreal (2003), I was invited to sing Sittin' On Top of the World with tenor Don, some lucky bass, Tommy Spirito told me to sing "my (his) part," and Tommy sang baritone. Don was a "convention friend" who was always gracious and charming when I indulged him with one of my favorite memory of singing with the "big boys."
