In 1987, he was awarded a PhD in Education from Seton Hall University. He taught English as a Second Language at several Boston-area schools as well as at South Cove Manor Nursing Home. To the very end, Mr. Chan was affectionately addressed as "Professor" by those who knew him. He was a survivor, a fighter, and a scholar. He will be missed. Mr. Chan was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Lee Chan (Lee Shiao Fung). He is survived by his children, son Eric Taichi Chan and his wife Angel Lam, son Ezra Tawei Chan and his wife Kim Nguyen, and daughter Andrea Yu-ju Wang and her husband Timothy Wang.
