ELEANOR P. "ELLIE" ABBATE

ABBATE, Eleanor "Ellie" P. (Abbott) Ellie of Mashpee, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren, on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the age of 92. Ellie was born on September 26, 1931 to her parents, the late Arthur Pryor Rudolph and the late Amy Mae (Griffin) Rudolph in Jamaica Plain, MA. Ellie was raised on Mt. Vernon Street in Dedham and graduated from Dedham High School in 1949. Ellie felt her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing games with them. She loved hearing about her kids' days, even though they were all over 60. She was an avid Boston Sports fan and often reached out to family to discuss the latest game. Ellie was an active member of the Cotuit Federated Church and found great joy and comfort in her faith. She turned heads in every room she walked into by her stunning beauty and confidence. Ellie loved the beach, day trips to Boston and her beloved dog, Marie. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Ellie is survived by her children, Dana Abbott and his wife, Ann of Laconia, NH, David Abbott and his wife, Merry of Falmouth, MA, Douglas Abbott and his wife, Erin of Falmouth, MA and Leslie Shinn and her husband, David of Mashpee, MA; her grandchildren, Dana Abbott and his wife, Meg Stark, Matthew Abbott, Andrea Whitman and husband, Paul, Benjamin Abbott, Daniel Abbott and his wife, Jess, Madison Dube and her husband, Douglas, Grace Shinn, Rylee Abbott and Reed Abbott; her beloved great-grandchildren, Bodie Dube, Gus Dube, Sean Abbott and Addison Whitman; as well as her brother, Arthur Rudolph. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Abbate; her brother, Harvey Rudolph; and sister, Lois Richards. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, at Cotuit Federated Church, 40 School Street, Cotuit, MA 02635. A Funeral Service will follow in the church, at 10:00 am. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 1:30 PM, at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton, MA 02021.
