1938 - 2022

FAUCHER, Francis Francis Denis Faucher, 84, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family who kept vigil over him. Born October 25, 1938, at Clover Hill Hospital in Lawrence, MA, Francis was the son of the late Dorothy (Bean) and Rene Faucher. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1956. For six years, Francis served his country through the Army Reserves. He earned his Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Lowell Technical Institute in 1967, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lowell Technical Institute in 1970, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration with Honors in 1983 from Northeastern University. He also completed the Program for Senior Executives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Francis had a distinguished career for more than four decades at the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) in Boston, MA. He held many titles throughout his career at the MDC including: Senior Civil Engineer Sewerage Division, Director of Reservoir Operations Water Division, and Deputy Director MDC Watershed Management Division. His career culminated with his appointment to Deputy Director of MDC Engineering and Construction Division, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of much of the infrastructure on which Boston residents rely. Francis held a Professional Engineering License throughout his career. Francis vacationed with his family for many years on Cape Cod. He loved the Cape so much that he lived there with his wife for many years, where he enjoyed endless rounds of golf and trips to the beach. His family will always remember the indelible image of Francis sitting in his rocking chair in the family room, sporting his trademark bucket hat and cardigan sweater. Seldom was Francis found without his signature transistor radio at his side â€" even in retirement, he still monitored the traffic and weather reports from Boston, looking after the safety of the residents of the city he devoted his career to. Predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Thomas Faucher, Francis is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Maureen (Callahan) Faucher of Methuen, MA; daughters, Suzanne Fichera and husband Russell Fichera, Deborah McCool and husband John McCool, all of Methuen, MA; four grandchildren, Christina (Fichera) Franco and husband Jimmy Franco, Justin Fichera and girlfriend Karin Torres, Nicholas McCool and Alexander McCool; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Rose Franco; brother, Robert Faucher and wife Joan of Andover, MA; his sister-in-law, Mary Lou of Atkinson, NH; niece, Brenda Faucher of Arlington, MA; and nephew, Brad Faucher of Waltham, MA. The family would also like to thank Hannah Duston Healthcare Center (Pentucket Unit) for their devotion to Francis and the exemplary care they provided.
