Deepest condolences to the Moss family.Mr. Moss was a gentleman and a caring person. The students loved him...they would always tell me what a great teacher he was when they came in the library. I worked with him for a short time-but he was always very upbeat and kind. Prayers for the family.

To the Moss Family, and especially little Penelope...I only knew Greg a couple of years since he moved to Amesbury. He was a good neighbor at Birchwood Pointe, and it was obviously how much he loved and adored his "Sweet Pea", Penelope. He will be missed in our community, mostly out at the pool watching her swim.
My prayers extend to all the lives he touched. May he rest peacefully.

To the family and close friends of Mr. Moss,
I am so sorry for your loss. The Melrose High School commmunity lost an amazing teacher, coach, and most importantly, friend. As a Melrose High graduate, I still carry with me the important life lessons Mr. Moss has taught me. I was grateful enough to have him as a teacher freshman year and junior year. I even had the pleasure of going on many ski trips with him. I know I am not the only student who was impacted greatly from the lessons Mr. Moss taught us. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to have such a meangingful realationship with an inspiring teacher.
My sincere condolences are with the entire Moss family during this very difficult time.

Penelope, Mary, Big Al, Jessica, Kelly and Moss Family.
I am deeply hurt by the loss of my best friend Gregory (Double Deuce) Moss. I already miss shooting the breeze talking about the B's, bee hives, drinking some beers trying to figure out how he was going to buy that Firebird with the big decal on the hood, making runs to the Wall family cabin, playing pond hockey in his back yard of NH, cooking everything in my kitchen with a turkey fryer in Virginia, hunting deer in Texas, getting the families together in NJ, his laugh and awesome sense of humor. I can't say enough about Gregory, he will sorely be missed by everyone. We love you Moss Dog, Uncle Awesome, my brother and friend for ever. This is not a Good-Bye, I will see you again.

To the family and friends of Mr. Moss, I send my deepest condolences. But, I just would like to tell you how much of an impact he had on my life. I was lucky enough to have Mr. Moss in my freshman year for Honors English. I walked in on the first day of class to see a man in a bowtie with a big smile and my life was never the same. Mr. Moss was an amazing teacher whose knowledge and passion truly changed the student I am today. Not only was he an amazing teacher but he was a mentor to me and truly a friend. He always was there to help me, whether it was reading a paper I has written for another subject or writing a letter of recommendation for National Honor Society. I cannot express in words how great of a person Mr. Moss was. A simple act like saying "hello" to a student in the hallway even if he did not know them showed how caring and loving he was to all the students in the school. I will never forget the smiles Mr. Moss put on my face. From just saying hello, he really could make anyones day better with a simple gesture like that. To his daughter, Penelope, your father truly was one of the greatest people I have ever known. All his students knew his love for you as he always talked about you and let you grade our papers and quizzes. His legacy will live on at Melrose High School as the students will live up to his motto that he left class with everyday "Have Fun and Make Good Decisions". Rest in Peace Mr. Moss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was lucky enough to have Mr. Moss both Freshmen and Junior year in high school. He taught me not only that my passion in life is writing, but also that I can use it to make a difference. He taught me to stand up for myself, because "the sqweaky wheel always gets oiled!" He was not only a fun and funny guy, but he was the reason that many of us have survived school thus far-because he cared. I will never forget the impact he had on my life and I will always miss saying hi to him in the hallways.

I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Moss for Honors English. While he always required me to do push-ups every time I was late (which was more often than I'd like to admit), I like to think he teaching me both an appreciation for timeliness and upper body strength. I have nothing but the fondest memories of our year together discussing Beowulf and other classics. His candor with our class was always an hour of my day that I cherished. Thank you, Mr. Moss, for the immeasurable impact you had on the students of MHS, and for the push ups. My sincerest condolences to the Moss family during this time of loss.

To the family and close friends of Greg Moss. My deepest condolences are with all of you. I never had him as a teacher but I had the privilege to Ski with him and my class. Always chatting in the school every time I would see him or if he cam in my English class we would have discussions because even if you didn't have him as a teacher you were still made important to him in some kind of way. Always funny and being sarcastic at the same time. He really had a serious impact with everyone at Melrose High. I feel terrible for the family. May his daughter, wife parents and siblings find comfort in the good memories of him through this difficult time.

My son Cameron had Mr. Moss in 9th grade and always spoke in such high regard for him. At my first high school open house, he was the first teacher I saw. His approach to making the children be responsible for themselves and to ask for help leaving the parents out was by far the best thing I took away from that evening. He taught my son more in one year to prepare for college than I could have ever dreamed of. His love for his job and the children who he taught, and even those who just passed him in the hallways, was something we will never forget. He forever left his mark on my sons heart, our family, and the city of Melrose. The children of future years will bE missing an amazing teacher and role model. He will forever be remembered and so deeply missed at Melrose High School.

Mr. Moss greatly impacted my life, probably without even knowing it. I had the pleasure of having him for English my freshmen year. One day (early in the year) he told us to take out our journals, look out the window, and write about the beauty we see. I told Mr. Moss that I didn't find anything in particular beautiful, seeing as it was a rainy, grey day. Mr. Moss told me that "Beauty is constantly surrounding us... You just have to take the time to allow yourself to see it". As freshmen year was a challenging year for me, Mr. Moss became a constant support for me. He was always pushing me to believe in myself and stay true to myself. Throughout high school, I often conversed with him in the hallways and had the pleasure of serving on a committee with him. My last day at MHS, Mr. Moss told me to never give up on what I believe in. Now, as a college student, I am reminded of the impact Mr. Moss has had on me, and how I am forever indebted to him for his unconditional support.
My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends during this very difficult time. As an MHS alumni, I can confidently say that Melrose High School lost an incredible asset to the community that can never be replaced. Rest in peace, Mr. Moss.

Sending healing prayers to the Moss family at this most difficult time. Our oldest son had Mr. Moss for english his junior year in high school (2011 - 2012). Our son loved Mr. Moss's class. He learned so much from him and became a better and more enthusiastic reader and writer because of Mr. Moss's support and encouragement. Jordan used to talk about the great group discussions the class had and how all the students' opinions were valued. We will be forever grateful that Jordan had the opportunity to be educated by such an amazing teacher. We are so very sorry for your loss.

To the Moss Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in this very difficult time. Greg was a great teacher and a lot of fun to work with. One of the weird things about teaching is that you rarely know if and how you have impacted kid's lives. Let me tell you Greg had a great impact on a lot of kids in Melrose. One thing about high school kids, they let you know what they think about people. They really liked him as a teacher and more importantly as a mentor and a role model. I can not count haw many great things I heard about Greg over the years.
The web he cast by the kids he helped, who went on to help others, and others, etc. will impact the world for years to come.
When I think of Greg, I think of that smiling face yelling after kids, "Make good decisions!" While he will be greatly missed by all at Melrose High that knew him, his good works and legacy will be long remember.
Rest in Peace,
Bob Coughlin

My wife Emily and I just would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Moss family. He was a true blue friend to us ever since I met him in 2001. We coached together, ran trails, and had two memorable ascents of Mt Washington during the winter months. We also took the beekeeping class together and he was always helping me with my hives. He was simply the most fun guy to be around, period. We will always cherish our memories that we have of Greg. I miss him already.

Dear Family,
I am extremely sad to find this out. Mr Moss has caused a great impact in my life as my english teacher back in High School, he thought me so much and besides helping me with learning english, he also thought be to face challenges and be brave! He was the one who gave me my diploma at graduation :( My prayers to you all. May you find comfort in God in such a difficult time.

Dear Mr. Moss,
It is absolutely terrible to hear that you have left us however, I think it is important for you to know how deeply you effected the Melrose community. I had the joy of meeting you, when I walked into class as an awkward freshman, and was immediately made comfortable from your sense of humor and radiation of positivity. It was evident you only wanted the best for us students. At the start of class we would all write in our journals, which I still have hidden under my bed to look back on. At the sound of the bell you would always say "make good decisions", these three words I always hoped to follow because I knew you truly cared. You were truly a great human being. Mr. Moss I hope you find all the good ski trails to ski down in heaven, as we all know your love for skiing and Sunday River. I end with saying thank you and all my prayers to your family especially, your young daughter Penelope.

Dear Moss family,
Greg Moss wasn't just a teacher, he was a person I considered a dear friend. Without him I would've failed my first year of high school. He helped me with personal and academic problems, he helped everyone with everything. He was the nicest teacher I've ever had the privilege of having for high school. I am so sorry for what has happened. And to his little girl, even during school he was thinking of you, he always talked about you and said how you were the best daughter in the world
