Howard was my first cousin.

As a small child growing up in Bangor, Maine, my father, Louis Golieb, uncle of Howard, would frequently take us all fishing. Howard was a great fisherman and story teller. I enjoyed these fishing trips with Howard very much.

After Howard's parents moved to Springfield, our contacts were not very frequent, though we all managed to keep up with his career.

May Howard rest in peace.

Hello,

I was sad to hear about cousin Howard's passing. I had never met him, though I had heard of his fascinating career through the years from other family members. Apparently his family moved to Boston from Maine before I was born. My father, Louis Gotlieb, was Maurice's younger brother. The picture of Maurice in the NY times looks just our uncle Hymie Gotlieb.

Thank you to the beautiful tribute to his life in the New York Times.

It is with a heavy heart that we read of the passing of dear long-time friend Howard Gotleib. From the time we first arrived in Boston nearly 31 years ago, Howard was so good to us. We will miss him. It was an American original.
