Imette St. Guillen Obituary

In N.Y.C., Feb. 25, 2006, formerly of Mission Hill, Boston, Ma. Survived by her mother Maureen St. Guillen, sister Alejandra St. Guillen and step father Frank Holbrook as well as a large extended family in New Hampshire, Florida and Venezuela. Her father Seimundo St. Guillen passed away in 1990. Funeral Services at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Saturday, March 4, at 10 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm. Interment private for family. Imette attended Farragut Elementary School, Boston Latin School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from George Washington University in 2003 as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was a graduate student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City where she was on the Graduate Dean's List. She would have completed her Masters Degree in Criminal Justice this May. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted towards a Scholarship in Imette's name for Boston Latin Students pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, to Boston Latin School, 78 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Boston, Ma. 02115. I am remembering Imette on this, the 19th Memorial of her passing. I still remember the grief of Imette´s family and loved ones: Maureen, Alejandra, Frank and Luke, as well as others named in this Guest Book. I just reached out to another young woman, who is now around Imette´s age when she lived, and I am hoping that she will also leave a comforting message for all of those who loved Imette!

Today, I remember the Memorial of Imette, and think of her and her Family. Maureen, Alejandra, Frank & Luke, I wish you all well and was pleased to have met all of your during 2006. I shared the story of Imette with new friends today at a new Church; and also thought of those of us who survived 9/11 - Myself and Others; TWA Flight 800, where I knew of an employee of Bristol Myers Squibb who passed from that disaster; and other such people, too numerous to name in these tragedies. God's Grace, however, still exists!

My Prayers and Thoughts today for Maureen, Alejandra, Frank & Luke, Mrs. Tedoldi, Clair Higgins and others who knew Imette; on this, the 15th Memorial of her passing. I am hoping that she is in Heaven with Jesus. I am praying for Healing for those who knew and loved her! Grace to You! In Jesus Christ’s Name!

Dear Imette,
I thought I would not acknowledge your tenth anniversary because it was just so painful. But I feel I can't simply let it pass. You're too important to remain silent and not to talk about and remember.

I was so blessed to have the privilege of being your 1st grade Reading Teacher,and your 3rd grade classroom teacher. We were in a very small classroom that year, and it was so wonderful to see so many of your classmates (and yourself!) pass the advance class test and eventually move on to Boston Latin.

I have a page in my prayer book where I have listed all 16 members of that class, and I can remember them all because it was the best year of my life.

My oldest, Alexa, was also in the third grade, and my youngest, Richa, grew up still retaining an uncanny resemblance to you. I am so fortunate to have such a constant reminder. Every time I kiss or hug her, I hold you too, in my heart. It reminds me of the e.e. Communing a poem, "i carry your heart in my heart."

And I wait, Imette, with all the other people who love you, we wait here on earth, knowing someday, we'll all be together again, and I will be so happy to see you again!

In the meantime, Richa is getting married on Sunday, April 17th and I will carry the little paper crafts you made me in 1989. I will carry them down the aisle, just as I carried them to Alexa's wedding, to Camille's and Ezra's birth in the hospital, and now down the aisle again. You are always here. Till the end of time, you're there, my bright and shining star.
