JAMES M. HOBIN Jr.

1944 - 2022

HOBIN, James M. Jr. Age 77, of Naples, FL and Hampton, NH, passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2022. Jim was born in Boston, MA on December 27, 1944 to James and Mary (Quinlan) Hobin and was raised in Everett, MA. He was a proud and active alumnus of Boston University and also received a J.D. from New England School of Law. Jim worked for 25 years as a sales representative for West Publishing Company, retiring in the mid-90s. Once retired, he greatly enjoyed the time he spent as a trustee for Salem State University and as an active member of many Pelican Bay organizations. A history buff, Jim never met an obscure fact that he didn't like (or forget). He loved anything related to politics, whether analyzing candidate strategy or engaging in the art of respectful debate. Above all, he enjoyed socializing with friends and spending time with his family, to whom he passed along his love of trivia, The Three Stooges, and Richardson's Ice Cream, and who are comforted by the fact that he is now free from the many challenges of his Parkinson's disease (and who hope that he is enjoying an endless tray of lemon squares). Jim leaves behind his devoted wife of 53 years, Joanne (Faney) Hobin; his daughter, Erin Hobin-Audet and her husband Sean of Melrose, MA; and his son, James Hobin of Orlando, FL. He also leaves his two adored grandchildren, Tyler and Zoe Audet; his brother-in-law Frank LaRovere; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters, Mary Shannon, Rose Squatrito, and Joan LaRovere. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held in Naples sometime in Fall of 2022.
