WINTERS, Jo Louise (Bakun) Full of humor and warmth until her last days, Jo Louise Winters, age 100, passed away peacefully at St. Patrick's Nursing home in Framingham, MA, on February 11, 2022. She was born on December 28, 1921, in Whiting, Indiana to Polish immigrants, John Bakun and Katherine Bakun (Stryczek). She married her lifelong love and partner, Marion Winters (Wasowicz), on July 25, 1942. They had two sons, Jeffrey and Brian, before moving out to California in 1954. Receiving a teaching degree from University of Southern California (USC), she was dedicated and passionate about advancing the reading skills of her elementary school students. She later followed Marion into a successful career working for the Social Security Administration. Jo Louise was always passionate about her Polish heritage, and extremely dedicated to Polish culture. Throughout her life she was an ardent supporter of local and national Polish organizations, assuming administrative roles as well as organizing and participating in many wonderful celebrations. Jo Louise was always brimming with pride for her two sons, who were her most cherished gifts. She was a wonderful "Busia" to her three grandchildren who loved her incredible sense of humor and continual jokes. She was an avid spectator, enthusiastically cheering on her grandchildren during their sports games and matches. And she also loved creating musicals and humorous theatrical productions with her grandchildren. Jo Louise is survived by her two sons Jeffrey and Brian; daughters-in-law Suzette and Antoinette; three grandchildren Kathryn Sitter, Monica Taylor, and Damian Winters; and five great-grandchildren Audrey and Henry Sitter, Theo Winters, and Blake and Maelyn Taylor. Her love and humor will be missed by all of us, but memories of her will live on forever in our hearts. May she fly swiftly in the arms of angels to meet her beloved husband in heaven.
