77, of Acton, MA. Beloved husband of Betty Bortz, unexpectedly, Thurs, Feb. 21, 2013. Devoted father of Sandra Bortz of Kennebunk, ME; Melanie Bortz Plitouke & husband Anthony of Whitinsville, MA; Tamara Bortz of Santa Cruz, CA; Christina Bortz DiPietro & husband Michael of Winchester, MA; John Bortz, Jr. & wife Sharon of Newburyport, MA; Darcey Bortz Fahey & husband Peter of Weymouth, MA. Loving grandfather of Chelsea, Nakoal & Christopher Bortz; Nicholas & Matthew Miller; Thomas & Olivia DiPietro; Katherine & Caroline Bortz; & Victoria & Lila Fahey. The Vigil Liturgy & visiting hours are Tues., Feb. 26th at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, 89 Arlington St, Acton, MA, beginning with the Reception Rite in the church entrance at 5:00pm followed by the Vigil Liturgy prayer service. Visiting will commence after the service & conclude at 8:00pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wed., Feb. 27th at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth's Parish, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Rd, Acton. Mrs. Bortz and family,
I am so sad to hear from my parents about your loss. I have good memories of your family and Mr. Bortz from the neighborhood growing up and always seeing him cheerfully serving at St. Elizabeth's. I know he had a strong relationship with the Lord and put that faith into action. You both have been special friends to my parents. We are keeping you in our prayers for comfort. I was saddened to hear that Mr. Bortz had passed away. I will forever remember his zest for life, his positive attitude, and his perfect jack knifes off the board at Patriot's Hill Pool. You're in my prayers.

I will always appreciate the great example that Jack was. He was a devoted husband and father, and a man of deep faith. His sense of humor always filled the room and his legacy of service to God, family, and friends will help carry the burden his leaving brings.
