JOHN DUNN Obituary

DUNN, John "Terry" Age 83, of Harwich, formerly of Dedham, passed away on Saturday, August 28, surrounded by his family with great love, compassion, and kindness. He fought hard with grace and dignity, just like he did with every other challenge he encountered in life. Terry leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Irene of 64 years and their children and spouses, John "Terry" Dunn Jr. and his wife Maura of Cohasset, Kathy Campion and her husband Pat Campion, from Albany, NY, and Maureen Hall and her husband Bucky Hall from Falmouth. He adored his six grandchildren, Katie Gallagher and her fiancé Pete Horn, Abbey Horne and her husband Eric, Patrick Campion, Brad Campion, Brittany Dunn, and Kerry Dunn. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Shane and Noah Horn, and Fiona Horne. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Eileen Dunn; his two brothers Bobby and Paul Dunn from Dedham; his sister and brother in-law, Bunt and Billy McElhinney, from Dedham and Harwich; and his sister-in-law Bridie Dunn from Dedham; and his brother-in-law, Paul Frances from Seekonk. He is survived by his sister Marie David and her husband Gus; as well as his brother Jimmy Dunn from Dedham; his sisters-in-law Sue Dunn and Rose Dunn, from Dedham; his sister-in-law Theresa Francis from Danvers; as well as many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. He was born on August 19, 1938 and was raised in Dedham where he met his wife, Irene in high school. He graduated from Dedham High School. He played semi-professional football and was in the Army National Reserves. He graduated from Northeastern University with both his bachelor's and a master's in Business Administration (MBA). He had a long career with Honeywell in Marketing for over 30 years. Irene and Terry loved to travel and went all over the world. He loved to sail, ski, golf and watch the Red Sox and Patriots for hours on end. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. A sweet memory from his grandchildren, "Pop always reminded me of a big teddy bear. He had an endless belief in all of our potential and goodness." A Visitation will be held at the Doane Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street, WEST HARWICH on Friday, September 3rd from 9 to 10:30AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 246 Main St., West Harwich, MA on Friday, September 3rd, at 11AM. A reception will follow for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Terry Dunn to Broad Reach Hospice, 390 Orleans Road, North Chatham, MA 02650.
