I did not know Joe, but I met his sister, my cousin Kathleen and her daughter, Mary Ann Glennon-Baker, and her son, William in Boston. Bill told me about the death of his Uncle Joe during the Ploesti, Romania Oil Field bombings of WWII. I had no idea that Joe Finneran had not been found. Somehow, I decided today to look for information on Joe - and learned of his recent return to his family and burial in November 2019. God Bless him. Mary Ann and Bill, please contact me. I am honored to get the opportunity to thank you for your service and for the sacrifice you made for this country. I am unknown to your family, separated by over 600 miles. The only common thread is that I am an American.
Though I would not be born for another 39 years after your death, I reap all the benefits of what you died for.The benefits are too many to list. As I type this, my children are warm and safe-They see the black & white picture of you on my screen and I tell them about how you willingly volunteered to go to war to protect our country, how your family must have felt hearing of your death, the pain of no closure and how they must have felt finally bringing you home.I honor you the only way I can- by telling my children, the next generation your story.Though we never knew you, today The Yarian Family thanks you and welcome home!
Sincerely,
Abby Yarian, Ohio
