All of you are in our thoughts and prayers as we remember Ken. He always welcomed us into his home. We loved to see his backyard garden and appreciated all of the harvest he shared.
He was the best of men. Sending our love to you all.

Dear Evelyn, Andy, Brian and Amy:
I first met Ken in 1969 when I began teaching in the operative department of Tufts Dental School. Ken had already been on staff. This was my first teaching position and it was easy for me to see that I would want Ken this gentle person, to be my mentor.
Ken was an individual who had the total respect of not only the dentists in the operative department but of every department in the school. Although Ken was a certified periodontist, his knowledge of all branches of dentistry was impeccable. To the students Ken was without a doubt the most popular staff member in the school. He was held in the highest respect by the students and they would seek him out for any discussion or marking.
The students had Ken at the top of their list because he treated them as an equal. Even though the students had not received their D.M.D. yet, Ken treated them with respect. There were many times Ken showed his outstanding character as a dentist and as a human being. One which sticks out in my mind that incorporates both of these characteristics was in 1969 in the middle of the Vietnam War. Students (Hippies as they were called) had long hair and were demonstrating for an end to the war. I had quite a head of long hair myself. Staff members were quick to address me and my long hair. When are you going to get a haircut? You look like a hippie. But not Ken, he judged a person from the inside. He was for sure ahead of his time.
Although Ken and I lived far apart and infrequently conversed over the phone, there was a brotherly affection that continued to keep us together. I have lost a loving, dear brother. Because Ken was like a brother to me. I can only imagine how you must feel losing him as a husband and a father. I will never forget his kind, soft smile.
Love,

Our family was new to Boston and Ken and Evelyn became our family. We always felt welcomed into their home and shared many holiday dinners with them. I will remember Ken for his incredible garden/farm that transformed his backyard into a child's wonderland. He always made a point of sharing his bounty. In fact, we always left with more than we came with! Evelyn shared her incredible baked goods with Lani, Meredith and I.
Rest in peace and know that Ken's legacy lives on in his incredible, caring children, Amy, Andy and Brian and those beautiful grandchildren.
Our deepest condolences and love, Ken and Evette Serota, Lani and Meredith and family.
