I first met Kevin when I took over for him at North American Publishing (Printing Impressions and Package Printing magazines) selling advertising in the New England territory. The location of the Norwood office was instrumental in my moving to this area and settling here with my family (in Sharon, MA). My orientation with Kevin, and the new job in Norwood, was a lunch excursion to LEWIS' Bar for a Lewis Burger, a large plate of fries and a bucket of beer. After lunch we exited through the decompression chamber (Lewis' foyer) from darkness to shear blinding light, and the buzz of a memory that will last a lifetime. Through the week of orientation and Kevin's transition to greener pastures, Kevin taught me the harsh realities of the advertising sales business. If you can't dazzle them with selling techniques, wear them down with three martini lunches.
Kevin also taught me to appreciate the music of Steely Dan, which I had only appreciated on a superficial level up to that point. A friend of mine had given me a Steely Dan bootleg tape from Drew Zing (S.D.'s lead guitarist at the time), and I passed a copy on to Kevin. His eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. Kevin went into a 30 minute rant about the characteristics that made Drew, and all the other musicians in S.D., the most consumate R&R band ever to roam the earth. To this day, whenever I hear a Steely Dan song I think of Kevin.
Whenever I visited Kevin at his office, he always had a beaming and welcoming smile. Kevin always asked about my family and my life, and listened intently while injecting as many humorous and insightful anecdotes as time would allow.
Regretfully, I lost touch with Kevin during his final couple years. I will always remember Kevin for his fatherly advisory qualities, and enthusiastic passion for music and life. My deepest sympathy to Kevin's family and friends. Kevin touched many lives, and shined a joyful light on those who knew him.
"Any world that I'm welcome to
Is better than the one I come from." -Steely Dan

Kevin,
I don't think I'll ever listen to Steely Dan (as I am doing now) without remembering you and your smile. You are missed.

Not sure if this is the right place but:
Happy B day CAT
Kevin, summer has gone by and you know what that means, its birthday time. My birthday was the other day. I still have your voice mail at work from 2 years ago with you calling and saying Happy Birthday. As your birthday approaches I remember how you ALWAYS remembered mine. I’m terrible with dates yours is the 12th right? I know it’s around now. I think I’ll remember that date even if it’s wrong, rather than the other date if that’s ok. I said in an entry before that you were the reason I love music. Kev if there was one song that reminded me of you and summed up how I always thought our lives would be it was S&G’s “Old Friends”. I always thought we’d be sitting on a park bench as old men like book ends. Although we weren’t in touch very much I still miss you and think about you a lot. Happy Birthday my childhood friend XO.

we are so sad to here about Kevin. He was an exceptional person. Our fond memories of his performing at the folk mass at St Tim's was the beginning of our admiration of his talent and wonderful attitude for life. His kind and warm personality will forever remain in our hearts. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

Dear Curran family,

I want to express my sincere condolences to you. I just learned today of Kevin's passing. I am a former a customer of his, but I can't say I ever felt that way - he was much more of a friend and big brother to me. I count it as one of the blessings in my life to have known him.

To the Curran family,

Karen and I were saddened to hear about Kevin. I'll always remember him as one of those rare individuals who could light up any room he walked into with either a funny story, a one liner, or just good conversation. I wish you all the best through this difficult time.

We referred to ourselves as "cousins" but Kevin, you were more like a brother and best friend, and 'best man' at our wedding. I'll always cherish and hold dear forever the fond memories, Rocky Point, Cape Cod and New Hampshire to name a few. But especially your visits to West Warwick and my weeks enjoying your company on Bonney Lane. Love always.

Dear Deb, Chris, Katie, Meg and the entire Curran and McDuff families:

Only Kevin's physical presence has left us. There is no way that someone who meant so much to so many could completely leave this earth. All who were blessed to have had him in their lives will find it difficult without him, but the memories each of us has of him are very special. He was the most compassionate, caring, intelligent, funny and genuine person. Thank you all for sharing him with me.

Love,

Tom and Kate Guiod

Kevin and our son, David, were born around the same time. Kevin was a most unusual young man. He had the ability to attract people to him with his magnetism. Always smiling and always willing to help any one. He was one of God's greatest gifts to his family and those who knew him. It is at times like these when one cannot understand the mysteries of the Holy Spirit. However, only God is in control, and we all have to cling to our faith and let God do the rest. Kevin was so easy to love.
