KEVIN DALTON Obituary

DALTON, Kevin A. Age 60, unexpectedly, entered into eternal life on April 16, 2014. Kevin was born and grew up in Quincy and lived in Plymouth before moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1996. He graduated from St. Sebastians School in Newton, and St. Michaels College in Vermont. Mr. Dalton worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Bay State Health Company for over twenty years where he met his wife Mary. In Sarasota he was a real estate agent, most recently with the Re-Max Company. Kevin was an avid golfer at the Stoneybrook Country Club in Sarasota where he shot a hole in one. He will be remembered for his undying love of the Boston Red Sox, the N.E. Patriots, Boston Bruins and most recently the Tampa Rays. One of the highlights of his life was being present at Fenway Park for Carl Yastrzemskis 3000th hit and for Yazs induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown. Gardening, cooking, sea cruises and trips to Sagamore Beach were among his greatest joys. Gifted with his sense of humor and outgoing personality, Kevin was blessed with many friends. Most of all, Kevin treasured sharing his life with his devoted wife Mary. He will be sorely missed by his family. Beloved husband of Mary (Wolanski) Dalton. Beloved son of Pearl (McDonnell) Dalton of Quincy and the late Dr. John T. Dalton. Beloved brother of Mollie Tucker and her husband Thomas of Hamilton, N.Y. Denise Dede Dalton-Martell and her husband Bob of Quincy, John T. Dalton Jr. and his wife Anne of Hingham, Lois Hamilton and her husband Mark of East Greenwich, R.I., Michael Dalton of Quincy. I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Kevin from a summer job years ago and found him to be a great guy with a fine sense of humor. I've thought of him from time to time and always remembered him fondly. May he rest in peace.

I went to high school with Kevin at St. Sebastian's. Because we lived in Quincy, my brother Bill and I had the raucous fun of driving to and from school with “Gus.” On the way home we always stopped at Friendly's for ice cream, which was the high point of our day. Gus had that menu memorized. Every time we teased him—as boys do—he teased back just as sharply and always seemed to get the clever last word. He was a smart guy with a funny perspective on everything. We always looked forward to him jumping in the car. I can't imagine those rides without Gus. He kept us all laughing all the way. We felt lucky that he lived nearby and needed a ride to school. Simply put, we just loved the guy. As Gleason Gallagher, a St. Sebastian's grad, says in his note in this guestbook, all this seems like yesterday.
I have missed Kevin over the years and now I will miss him much more.
The O'Donnell family offers out heartfelt sympathy to the Daltons.
Sincerely,

John Stapleton

I was saddened to learn of Kevin's passing. We at St. Michael's knew him as Gus. Gus was a funny, insightful and thoughtful guy. He wore his love for the Celtics and Sawx on his sleeve. "Yaz is a Gawd" he'd say. My heartfelt condolences go out to the Dalton family, his wife and close friends.

Mary,
I met Kevin when he walked into my office at Coldwell Banker on Siesta to begin his new career path in real estate. I knew right away this was a bigger than life kind of guy. He always managed to make everyone around him laugh...even in stressful situations. I will alway remember his love for the Red Sox the game of golf ...and bringing in a commission check!!! What a great guy!!!

Mary it was sad and shocking to hear about Kevin. It has been such a long time since I have seen either one of you. I'm not sure how long but I have been in Cincinnati for 25 years now, The home of Bill Glandorf. I have some great memories with Kevin. Do you remember the food raffles at the Marshfield K of C? Or going out in his boat to get lobsters for our dinner. Please accept my deepest condolences and know that you and Kevin will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, David O'Brien

Mary
It has been many ears sinceI saw "Gus" as we were classmates and teamamtes at St.Sebs. I will remember Gus a good guy with a sense of humor and a caring man. I am sorry that he has passed and also that we did not conect since 1971. We also moved to Florida ten years ago and wished that I knew that you snowbird moved south. Think of happy times, the jokes and the golden times of Boston's sports that he loved so much. I am sure that he made a positive impact where ever he went as he did at St. Sebs.

Mary and The Dalton Family,
I am very sorry for your loss.
Kevin was one of the kindest, most genuine and funniest people I have known.
Kevin's sense of humor was a true gift.
I can think of a nickname for a person, place, or thing, a key phrase or a story from more than thirty years ago and laugh out loud as though it were yesterday.
He was the best!
Thoughts and prayers.

I am shocked and saddened to hear about my friend Kevin taken at such a young age with so much to live for. Over all the years I have known him and worked with him, despite our sports differences, we never left each other without a laugh and a smile. He was a great guy and how appropriate that his obituary should appear on "Patriots Day". Gil Schulze
