1927 - 2018

McCARTHY, Leonard F. Sr. Leonard F. McCarthy Sr., of Malden, passed away on January 6th, 2018 at Meredith Bay Colony Club in Meredith, NH at the age of 90. Leonard was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Lorraine (Alexander) McCarthy. He was the son of the late John J. McCarthy and Ethel (Rock) McCarthy. Leonard was the father of Leonard F. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Laconia, NH and Auburndale, FL and John P. McCarthy of Rockland. Grandfather of Carianne, John, Kristen, Alicia, Kayla and Kathleen. Great grandfather of Bradley, Brett, Braylyn, Brooklyn and Harlowe. Brother of Gerald McCarthy of Melrose and the late John J. McCarthy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Stephen Caruso and sister-in-law Linda Alexander as well as many nieces and nephews. Leonard was raised in Malden where he lived for 88 years. He worked as a welder at the Boston Navy Yard during World War II. He was employed by the City of Malden DPW for over 40 years. He also worked for the Malden Housing Authority after his retirement. He was a former member of the Irish American Association in Malden and a former usher and lifelong parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., MALDEN, on Tuesday, January 16th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 15th from 3-7 PM.
