LORETO ANTONELLIS Obituary

ANTONELLIS, Loreto "Larry" Of Watertown, Massachusetts, on January 8, 2012 at 68. Devoted husband to the late Anne (Fucci) Antonellis. Loving father to Michael & Elaine (Lockhart) Antonellis and Daniel & Christine (Connors) Antonellis. Dear son to the late Cessidio [Joe] and Lucia Antonellis and son-in-law to the late Fred and Rose Fucci. Adored brother of Marie (Antonellis) Gadbois and her late husband George, Domenic & Joan Antonellis, Joseph & MaryLynn Antonellis, and beloved brother-in-law to Fred Fucci and James Fucci. Loving grandfather to Erik, Michaela, Daniel, and Emily Antonellis. Larry was a firm believer that everything important in life revolved around family-family was everything to him. He was proud of his Italian-American heritage and had a deep appreciation of his family history and roots. He never forgot where he came from and took great pride in sharing stories passed down from his parents and past generations. While his wife Anne was alive, she encouraged Larry to try things he would not normally attempt on his own. They were a strong, loving team that complemented each other well and raised a strong, tight-knit family. Larry and Anne traveled quite often together. Every year, they vacationed at their condo in Boca Raton, Florida where they had a number of friends. Larry had many close friends. His approachability, strong sense of loyalty, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed it (often at a moment's notice) made him a very well-respected and popular member of the community. Those closest to him considered him a mentor, teacher, role model, and father figure. Larry served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. At a young age, he started his own landscaping business. He prided himself on providing the highest quality service and attention to detail in his work, and he instilled these same values in the many people he employed throughout the history of his company. He was a successful businessman and property owner who chose to live a humble, understated, and simple lifestyle surrounded by what was most important to him-family and friends. Larry was known for his philanthropy and was a frequent supporter of charitable organizations such as Boys Town and the American Heart Association, among others. Visitation to be held at Magni Funeral Home at 365 Watertown Street in NEWTON on Sunday, February 12th from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Phone (617) 527-2224. Funeral Mass to be held at Saint Patrick's Church on 212 Main Street in Watertown on Monday, February 13th at 9:00 a.m. Burial Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Donations will be accepted in Larry's name to the American Lung Association. www.magnifuneralhome.com

I am so sad to hear about Larry's passing. I lived on Chapman Street, downstairs from the Antonellis family, from ages two to four. Larry was my best friend. We had tea parties on the back steps, and I visited upstairs with Maria, Joe and the family frequently. I vividly remember the tiny colored candies put out for us kids in a big bowl by Maria. Larry was a very handsome little boy, and a sweetheart. I've never forgotten the crush I had on him - my first. I'm so sorry for your loss. I feel as though I've lost someone myself, with his passing. Most sincerely, Martha (Feldman) Woodworth, Las Vegas, NV

Dear Mike, Danny and Joe,

I just heard about this. I knew it was coming, Larry told me.

He was a real person in a world of many phonies. I will miss him, I will never forget him, and I will use his character on occasion as a guide or a beacon.

Dear Mike & Danny, We were neighbors of Mom & Dad when you guys were little. We were newlyweds in our first house. Your Mom & Dad were always there to lend us a hand and give us advice when we needed it. We moved away but would run into your parents here and there over the years. Your Mom was small in size but big in heart and your Dad was first class. God Bless Ann & Larry may they rest in peace together.

I was honored to have had the opportunity of working with Larry when I first began my career with the Associated Landscape Contractors of Massachusetts in the early 1980s. Larry served as president of the group in 1984. I have many fond memories of Larry and Anne at ALCM meetings ... always smiling, always supportive, and always committed to family. Larry was "old school" with a heart of gold. I consider him one of my greatest mentors and I am grateful to have had the chance to speak with him a few months ago ... we shared a few memories and a good laugh! Rest in peace, Larry.
With heartfelt condolences to the Antonellis family on the loss of this wonderful, wonderful man.

I remember our younger days when we would all be together with our parents and grandparents. Larry, Dom, and Joey would visit our parents all the time and we would play, laugh, and eat all the good food. Remember Aunt Connie and Uncle Joe, Nona Gentile, too many to name but fondest memories of our younger years.

So sorry for all of you, but there's another angel in heaven!

Rest in peace Larry,
