Peter D. Antonellis, 72, of Winchendon, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his loving family and close friends. 

Born on June 6, 1952, he was the youngest son of the late Dr. Carl J. Antonellis and Mary (Fewry) Antonellis. Peter was a 1970 graduate of Murdock High School, a 1974 graduate of Boston University, and in 1980 obtained a Master's in Education from Fitchburg State College.

Peter was a longtime educator, Athletic Director, and Assistant Principal for the Winchendon Public Schools until his retirement in 2006. He coached Murdock High School football, basketball, and baseball. He was formerly a member of IBBAO Board 44 for basketball officiating. In 2004, Peter was awarded the President's Award of Merit by the Massachusetts Secondary School Athletic Director's Association. He was well-loved by his students and fellow educators. Upon his retirement, Peter stayed active in several Murdock sports programs. 

Peter was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #193. He was an avid New England sports fan, never missing a Patriots or Red Sox game. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends. Peter loved spending time with his granddaughter. 

Peter is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan (Sullivan) Antonellis, and their three children; Peter S. Antonellis and his partner Samuel Malloy of Boston; Carly Antonellis her husband William Woytek of Winchendon; and Michael Antonellis and his wife Danielle of Winchendon and his granddaughter Alyson Antonellis. Peter is also survived by his brother Paul J. Antonellis of Eliot, ME, and Jean M. Arceci of Scottsdale, AZ. Peter was predeceased by his brother Carl J. Antonellis and his nephews Michael and Joseph Davini. 

Peter's family would like to thank Dr. David Havlin, the Winchendon Fire Department EMS, Care Central VNA, Heywood Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital for providing excellent care over the past five years. 

In lieu of flowers, Peter's family is requesting donations be made to any of the following organizations: the Winchendon Firefighters Relief Association, 405 Central St., Winchendon, MA 01475; the Clark Memorial YMCA, 155 Central St. Winchendon, MA 01475; or the Murdock Sports Boosters, PO BOX 45, Winchendon, MA 01475. 

Calling Hour will be in the Stone Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon, MA 01475, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 4:00 - 700 p.m.

Peter's funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Winchendon, MA. Everyone is asked to go directly to the Church, Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA 01475.
