MARTHA MAHONEY Obituary

MAHONEY, Martha Brooks Martha Brooks (McDermott) Mahoney, of Arlington, Massachusetts (March 14, 1953 - January 3, 2024), was the only child of Francis and Roberta McDermott (Robinson). She was born in Cambridge, MA and she was a lifelong resident of Arlington. She was a graduate of Arlington High School ('71) and Boston College School of Nursing ('75). She worked as a Registered Nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital and then the Visiting Nurses Association in Arlington. Martha met her husband, Ned Mahoney, at Arlington High, where they attended their senior prom together. They had a beloved dog, Mindje. Martha and Ned enjoyed 48 years of marriage and have one daughter, Melissa Mahoney. Martha loved to draw, sing, watch movies and to spend time at the Widener Library at Harvard, where her father had worked. Martha passed away at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, with her husband and daughter by her side. Graveside Services will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Mt. Auburn Cemetery Cambridge, all are welcome to attend. "Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

Ned and Melissa, I'm so sorry for you two. Though I hadn't seen her in years I'll always have very fond memories of her. I still remember getting Ginger Snaps, Starbursts, and Animal crackers whenever I came over as a kid. See you soon.
