Not a day goes by without remembering and quietly "speaking" briefly to Mike. My comments of four years ago remain in place today. In further tribute to Mike, my wife Mary and son Darwin and I are making a contribution in Mike's name to a rainforest preservation organization working hard to preserve a cornerstone of our lives globally, diverse trees and the indigenous peoples, who are living amongst and courageously protecting such special, essential nature-regions in the Amazon. Mike right now would be/is giving a big thumbs up with a great genuine smile. Doug

Michael was one of the real good guys of the planet. I absolutely cherish the times we had together while working in the education department of the Franklin Park Zook over forty years ago. We lost touch for many years but recently reconnected, and it was so special Michael was a warm, caring, witty person who really valued knowledge, thinking, and making connections in different topics to better understand and appreciation the world.
I and my wife Mary shall forever miss this uniquely thoughtful, winsome, and often comedic friend.
When trees and other spectacular life pause in a calm wind, I shall think that they do so in part to still embrace the spirit, intelligence, and joy that Michael represented, that he brought wherever he went.
Love you Mike!
