My deepest condolences to Marcia, David and Peter on the passing of a very special man.
I am a life long die hard Red Sox fan. Nothing unusual about that for a New England resident, except that I grew up in Northern NJ, the heart of Yankee territory. The reason I'm a Red Sox fan is that I was born in Italy, so inherited no allegiances, and went to summer camp in New Hampshire where I became best friends with Peter. We were such good friends we would visit each other during the year, after camp or on holidays (my first suit was purchased so I could attend the bar mitzvah of a Zonis relative during a visit). It was during a late summer visit that Mort took me and the boys to Fenway Park, my first professional baseball game. And the rest, as they say is history.
The Zonis family will always hold a special place in my heart, and Mort, with his generosity, wit, and love of life (and his family), leaves me with memories that will continue to make me smile for years to come.
