PATRICIA CLANCY Obituary

CLANCY, Patricia Helen Age 82, formerly of Holliston, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 with her children by her side. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Murphy) and Charles Gillon. She was married to the late John L. Clancy for 50 years. After losing her parents at 10 and 14 years of age, Patricia was raised by her aunt Marion Murphy (Mamie) in Hopedale. She was a graduate of Annhurst College, then worked at the Dennison Corporation in Framingham. A blind date with a young man from Holliston in a VW Beetle led to marriage two years later. John and Pat moved to a new home on Oakridge Road in Holliston, where they raised four children and lived until John's death in 2014. In Holliston, she built a home full of laughter and love. While setting high standards, she understood the benefit of letting her children miss an occasional day of school and the healing power of humor, ice cream, hugs, and a good cup of coffee. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, whether around the dinner table, sharing stories, or playing cards. She had a gift for making everyone around her feel comforted and special, from crying babies to grown adults. Her magnetic personality and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who knew her. Pat was exceptionally proud of her four children and ten grandchildren, who became the center of her life. Patricia is survived by four children, John Clancy and his wife, Karen of Sherborn, Thomas Clancy and his wife, Andria of Hingham, Joseph Clancy and his wife, Rosanna of Upton, and Anne-Marie and her husband, Thomas Murray of Newburyport. She also leaves behind her brother, Thomas Gillon, sister-in-law Sally Gillon and niece Cathy Dufort of North Carolina, and her ten grandchildren, John, Samantha, Brian, Logan, Ava, Joseph, Thomas, Annabel, Quinten, and Thomas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of HOLLISTON, www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com

Dear John, Tom, Joe and Anne-Marie,

I am shocked and deeply saddened by your moms' passing, I literally just learned about your loss. I loved both your mom and dad, they were truly amazing people, good friends and they will be greatly missed.

Just yesterday I was stopped at the lights right outside of Milford Cornerstone, thinking and hoping that, just maybe, by summer, I might be able to start visiting your mom and another friend of mine, at that facility. I always enjoyed dropping in and bringing your mom flowers. We would talk, but honestly the topic was always ended up talking about my four children and you four, and your children (her grandchildren). She would always refer to that gorgeous family portrait, that she truly treasured, as she pointed which grand children belonged to whom. Always a very proud mother and grandmother.

When my wife Ingrid died, now almost 24 years ago, a friend told me something that helped him deal with the grief he felt when he lost a loved one. He said he hoped it would help me, and It did. Now may it do the same all of you:

"When someone you love
becomes a memory
the memory becomes
a TREASURE."

May your mom, all of you, and your children, find peace.

With greatest love and respect,

Peter M. Amati, Jr.
