Peter CAPODILUPO Obituary

CAPODILUPO, Peter A. Of Medford, died peacefully on October 20th, at the age of 93, after a life well-lived. Peter is survived by his wife, Marlene, of 67 years; his three children, Karen (McKenzie) and her husband Kevin of Greenland, NH, Peter Capodilupo, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, of Somerville, and Sandra (Young) and her husband, Scott, of Burlington. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Alison and Mark McKenzie, Peter Capodilupo and his wife, Kathryn, Elise Capodilupo and her husband, Andre Santos, Alexander and his partner, Ryleigh, and Christina Young. Peter and Marlene were also recently blessed by the birth of their first great-grandchild, Lennon Renee Santos. Peter was the cherished uncle of Rita Ranzo, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Peter was born and raised in the North End of Boston by Peter and Angelina Capodilupo. He was the youngest of 5 brothers, Dr. Graziano, Edmundo, Robert and Dante (who sadly passed at age 5). Peter was an excellent student and athlete who possessed the kindness, diligence, and amazing work ethic of his parents and older siblings. He attended Boston Latin and Boston College, excelling in both academics and athletics.

At the age of 18, a beautiful young librarian, Marlene, caught his eye. As luck would have it, she lived just a few streets away. Peter and Marlene married and lived in their first home on Prince Street. They later moved to Winchester, where they raised their three children in a warm and loving home.

Peter was a self-taught and talent pianist. Playing brought him, his family and friends immense joy. He was also a brilliant mathematician and pioneer in the computer and technology industries. He made notable contributions to computer hardware and software development at Boston University and several private companies. Peter was also a human resources professional, and later formed his own recruitment company. In spite of his professional successes, nothing was more important or gave Peter more pride than his family.

He was a loving husband and wonderful Dad, supporting his children with a firm but gentle and ever-loving hand. He was a special Papa to his grandchildren, showering them with love and attention. Peter set an amazing example for his children and grandchildren, instilling in all a love of life and family.

Peter truly was a "rock" to all. He was the person to whom many turned to for thoughtful advice and counsel about everything from career choices to life's struggles. He had a special way of talking people through their problems, administering good advice with incredible warmth and empathy. We will love and miss you forever, husband, Dad, and Papa.

The above remarkable narrative must have been written by Marlene. It says it all ... almost. Pete was one of the most popular and respected "members" of our luncheon group at BC. We met at the same table every lunch hour and we didn't begin festivities until Pete arrived. We studied hard and we let our hair down during that lunch period. Pete made the most noise, of course, because we welcomed his every word. He was one great guy.

Peter was one of the finest people I have ever known. It was an honor to work for him at Compunetics and Boston University. He always treated people with respect and kindness. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Capodilupo and to the entire family.

O Most Gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant. Be not severe in Thy judgment but let some drops of Thy precious Blood fall upon the devouring flames. And do Thou, O Merciful Savior, send Thy Holy Angels to conduct Thy departed servant to a place of refreshment, Light and peace. Amen.
