Pete....I think of you often....from our times mountain biking, to motorcycling to taking you flying for your first time. I remember that day well....you were fascinated with every aspect of flight. That day was May 19, 1990 and we went to Nantucket for the day. I learned my dentist had quite the sweet tooth when we hit the candy shop! You were such a natural, the entire flight home you were in control of the airplane.......... I miss you.

Having just heard of Peter's passing in a BU alumni publication, I'm do sorry to hear of this tragedy. I remember living on the same floor in the same dormitory as Peter in the beginning of 1978, and he was a good guy, a true friend. Though I lost touch over the years I take pleasure in learning what a special life he lived and how he continued to help others and enjoy life. My thoughts and prayers to his grieving family and the many friends who miss as do I.

Peter Hebert was a wonderful dentist, the best I ever had. He was always available to take care of a sudden dental problem that I had, including doing a root canal on short notice when the pain became unbearable. He will be missed by all of us.

I first met Peter when my sister worked for him several years ago and I think our whole family became patients. He was always professional in his care and I enjoyed conversing about some of our mutual interests. I had met Sheri there in the last couple years and she was always a very happy and enjoyable person to see. It is difficult to believe they are both gone--truly great lights on this earth and I pray their lights shine now in a place of much peace---my thoughts and those of my family rest with the families of Peter and Sheri.

Rest in peace. You left a foot print on my heart forever.

Peter wanted a taste of everything in life. One of the few people I know who loved his work, play, and home. Always focusing on what was right than wrong. He knew that time was the most important thing we all have and did not waste it. I spent many good times with Pete and I'm very happy to know all my memories will be good ones.

Love to you Jeanne, Allison, Kristin, and Pete, Dale

Words really can't express all my feelings about the loss of Peter. He was a great friend and a truly outstanding dentist.
I have been participating in the care of many of his patients for many years and have only the very highest respect for the quality of his dentistry and the committment he had to the well- being of his patients. I know that he will be dearly missed by his patients who loved him and felt lucky to have him as their dentist. Peter had a amazing passion for life and zest for living, and always a friendly greeting. I will truly miss him for a very long time.

Jeanne and family, 20 years ago I enjoyed many wonderful ski days with Peter (and Dale). They were so good to let me ski with them (I was about 18 years older but in great shape). They taught me how to ski moguls and we skied only the "steep and deep" bump runs at Sugarbush North-especially Black Diamond and FIS.I cherish those memories. They were my best ski buddies with whom I enjoyed my fondest & finest memories (3 abreast on the Diamond - WOW). I am so sorry to hear about Peter. He was all the good thoughts we all will remember about him. -"Diamond Jim" Soutar, Barre, Vt.

To the family of Dr. Hebert,
I was a patient of Dr. Hebert's. I have never felt so comfortable with a dentist. I was feeling embarrased about my smile and he made me feel like it was okay. I have a hard time trusting people, especially doctors and to know that he cared so much about my self esteem, I could never have asked for so much. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Dear Jeanne, Kristin and Alison, It has been oh so many years since we met you and watched, and shared, as Peter constructed his first plane in the garage. I got to know Peter as a skiing companion, and like so many others, consider myself fortunate and blessed to have known him. Like Peter, I grew up in Connecticut and my love of skiing brought me to Vermont where our paths crossed. We shared many smiles after a great run, and conversations about life and all its trials and tribulations on the chairlift rides that brought us back to the top of the mountain. Peter's zest for all the experiences that life had to offer, and his infectious smile had a way of bringing new light in your life whenever you needed it most. His place on the chairlift will be a difficult, if not impossible one to fill. I know I speak for many others when I say you will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I first took Pete flying on 5/19/1991. We went to Nantucket, and I let him fly the entire route. He was hooked and he started taking lessons shortly thereafter. We flew together often, and I always let him fly my plane. He was a natural pilot right from the start. In less than 1 hr, he had a complete understanding that took me years to master. I helped him with decisions on building his first plane. I was his official/unofficial A&P mechanic. We continued our friendship to include mountain biking, and I could never keep up with him. He was fast and smooth in the woods. When he puirchased his motorcycle, we buzzed around the backroads, and he was always cautious as he always said he wanted to make sure he made it back home to his 3 girls. Best of all, he was absolutley the best dentist I ever had. A true professional that had the best people skills I will ever know. I never winced or said "ow". I can truly say I never met anybody with so many talents and was a gentleman from head to toe. I have missed you Pete since you moved to Stowe....and now I really miss you. I still have many fillings you gave me.....and in an odd way.....I will cherish them and think of you........................

Peter was that rare individual who could light up every room he walked into, make any trip up or down the mountain more fun, and add warmth and spice to any dinner party. It was deeply saddening to learn of Peter's accident. I had the pleasure of teaching him in many classes during his time at UCONN School of Dental Medicine. Peter was a good student and a great person. It was an honor and pleasure to have been able to mentor him. Losing Peter hurts me because, as one of my students, he was like one of my children. Jean, Kristin, Allison & Peter's family -- Words cannot express how saddened we are for your loss. Peter will be greatly missed by so many. We were lucky to have known Peter and had him as our dentist for the last 10 years. He's the only dentist we actually looked forward to going to, and the only one I have ever gone to that could make getting a shot of Novocaine for a filling seem like just a "pinch" (he was always right!). We will miss him, and David, Hannah, and I send our thoughts and prayers to all of you.

Peter has been our dentist for many years. He and his office staff have had such enthusiasm ‘recreating” smiles, giving their patients a renewed confidence. As a true dentistry artist, he implemented “cutting edge” approaches. He died doing what he loved to do, and it is hard to believe that he is no longer in his office. We extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to the families, friends and coworkers of Peter and his friend Sheri – may they all have the strength to cope with the days ahead. God bless the children…
