1968 - 2025

WEISE, Dr. Peter Cotroneo April 2, 1968 - March 23, 2025 Dr. Peter Cotroneo Weise of Vero Beach, Florida passed away in the warm embrace of his loving family, on March 23, 2025. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Jill Cotroneo Weise; his two sons, Benjamin Cotroneo Weise (24) and Nicholas Cotroneo Weise (17); his two parents, Jorg Weise and Hilke Weise; and his sister, Anne Barbara Weise. Peter was born in Eisenhuttenstadt, East Germany, witnessed the fall of the wall and moved to the U.S. permanently in 1996. Peter was a professor of German Language and Literature, serving as a lecturer at Georgetown University, Boston University and MIT, where he retired as the head of their German program. Peter earned an undergraduate degree from Humboldt University and an MA and PhD from Georgetown University in their School of Foreign Service. Peter was a devoted husband and father and will be remembered for his sharp intellect, wry sense of humor and kind soul. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am, on April 27, at the Eastern Yacht Club, located in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
