PHYLLIS ROMEJKO

ROMEJKO, Phyllis (Symanski) 89, of Melrose, formerly of Saugus, died peacefully at home surrounded by her children on July 12, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Lynn, the youngest of seven children, she was the daughter of Polish immigrants Joseph and Stacia (Osiecka) Symanski. Strong, sharp-minded, independent and active her entire life, she left her career at General Electric to devote herself to her beloved husband of 52 years, Frederick Romejko, and their three children whose happiness she always placed before her own. Phyllis lived to be outdoors-loved her tennis, swimming, hot tub, animals, and reading in her chaise lounge, as well as her travels. Yet being with her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her sister, Kay Beattie of Greenland, NH; her son, Stephen Romejko, his wife, Gail of Lanesboro; two daughters, Joan Bornstein, her husband, Steven of Peabody, and Kathryn Deputat of Jamaica Plain; and her loving grandchildren, Jeffrey, Derek, David and Emily. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Parish, 14 Summer Street, Saugus. Private burial. Donations in her name may be made to Second Chance Shelter for Cats (675 VFW Parkway #266, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467) to honor her love for all animals.
