RICHARD DOWNEY Obituary

Downey, Richard Ralph Of Cambridge, died peacefully at home on March 3, 2015. Loving husband of Mary Ann Serra. Devoted father of Janice D. Seidman of Newton, Ian C. Downey of Arlington, Timothy M Downey of Scituate and the late Richard R. Downey, Jr. Loving grandfather of Elliot Seidman of London and Hannah Seidman of Newton. Dear brother to Paul J. Downey, Jr. of El Cajon, CA, Robert P. Downey of E. Falmouth, Stephen M. Downey of E. Taunton, and Patricia A. Downey of Rockland. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Paul. J. And Evelyn Downey and his brothers Lawrence Downey and Gerald A. Downey. Richard graduated from Northeastern University, Harvard Business School, Suffolk University Law School and Boston University School of Law. He was for many years a Vice President and principal at Associates for International Research in Cambridge. Richard was an enthusiastic lover of the arts spending many pleasurable hours in museums and regularly attending the Boston Symphony and the Metropolitan Opera. He was a member of the Harvard Clubs of Boston and New York. Funeral Service in the Story Chapel of Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, on Saturday at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours in the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mt. Auburn St. (Rt16) WATERTOWN, on Friday 3-7 P.M. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Richard's memory to Food for Free, 11 Inman Street Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02139; or to Good Shepherd Community Hospice, 90 Wells Ave., Newton, MA 02459 would be appreciated. www.stantonfuneralhome.com
