RICHARD HALPERN Obituary

HALPERN, Richard E. Of Mashpee, MA, on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the age of 78. Steadfast partner of Christina Stankevich, and doting father of Mason and Quincy. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine before embarking on a successful entrepreneurial career. After leading the growth and merger of his family's business, Halpern Bros., Richard founded Diamond Real Estate and established Zachary's Pub, which he owned and operated until its sale in 2019. His connection to family and his lifelong love of the ocean led him to Cape Cod, where Richard established his home and businesses. Friend to many, he became known throughout Mashpee and Falmouth for his generous spirit, fierce independence and business acumen. However, he found his true calling late in life as a father and relished every moment with his two children. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice (Kanter) Halpern and his sister, Carole Diamond. He is survived by his life partner Christina Stankevich, his two children Mason and Quincy, a brother-in-law, a niece and many cousins. Graveside services at Mohliver Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital Diabetes Unit (https://www.massgeneral.org/endocrinology/diabetes/about/support). Y´all ever just chillin´ relaxing on a boat ride and 35 seconds later you´re going 70mph on the open ocean and the guy driving it turns around and sort of laughs? I didn´t know boats go that fast.

May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. From a very old friend from Singer Link, Binghamton, New York. I recently learned this sad news.

Richard and I grew up from kindergarten through high school and remained in touch until he died. A true gentleman and a great friend. I was hoping to see him this summer until the pandemic

Richards zest for life and responsibilities was contagious, with a stern hand ,he has inspired every fiber of my being and has made me the woman I am today for that I am thankfully always in your debt,
I love you so very much my friend!
This is not a farewell, until we meet again when our stars are aligned

Richie was one of my best friends and a fraternity brother when we were attending the University Of Maine. After graduation we fell out of contact but I have always remembered him as a kind and loyal friend. My sympathies to Christina, Mason and Quincey

I worked for Richard for 10 years
I have many stories and fawned memories, the best was when there
was a blizzard; 3 ft of snow and all the power was off, I still made it in for my shift
He had invited several people to stay in the main building as it had a large generator. He asked me to cook for him and his guests, then offered to let me and my husband stay( other employees who were close to stay also) He was a generous man who was as I liked to say was a bit eccentric , texted me on my birthday and holidays even after I moved out of state
My heart is saddened by his passing and I know that he will be sorely missed by all who knew him

richie was my beloved fraternity brother (tau epsilon phi of tau zeta chapter TZ294 at umaine), where I met him and we lived together at 380 college avenue in Orono. I will always remember the sparkle in his brown eyes and his fun-loving attitude. He added a great potential to my spirit and to my life and I will be forever grateful to Richie. I tried to entice him to come to our reunion in August of 2018, but he declined as he felt loyalty to his bride and young family. Richie will be my best example of a “forever young” generation as he stands (and will remain) high on my favorite brothers list. Nobody will ever replace Richie and his love for life. We all mourn his passing on 1/18/21 and send our love and blessings to his young family he left behind. I’m sure his soul will rest in peace and love, knowing he left his family securely... as he was the very finest of human beings. we bless his memory !!!
