SHEILA SUTTON Obituary

SUTTON, Sheila Mary Known affectionately as "Shortie," passed away on February 7, 2025, in Melrose, MA, at the age of 71. Born on May 19, 1953, in Boston, she was the adopted daughter of the late Alice and Edward Gill. Sheila leaves behind her sister, Noreen Gill Nadeau of Largo, FL; and her son, David Sutton of Jacksonville, FL. Shortie was a vibrant and engaging personality, always ready to discuss anything from politics to the heartaches of being a Boston Red Sox fan. Her mornings were joyfully spent watching wildlife from her window, while enjoying coffee with her partner, Deborah Gallagher. Animals were naturally drawn to her, reflecting her warm and inviting nature. Professionally, Sheila was incredibly versatile, working in various roles throughout her life. She painted and renovated homes, provided security at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Star Market and Bradlees and even drove a cab for Malden Taxi. Before retiring in 2015, she was a part-time janitor at Metro North Children's Learning Center in Malden. In retirement, she pursued her passion for crossword puzzles, which kept her mind sharp and entertained. A Celebration of Life will be held at Boston Cremation, 287 Main St., Malden, on February 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA to give an animal a second chance. Boston Cremation is assisting the family with the arrangements.
