McGRORY, Stephen F. Surrounded by his loving family, Stephen Francis McGrory, 64, of Arlington, MA, passed away on August 12, 2019, after a five-and-a-half-year battle with corticobasal degeneration. Steve was born on May 5, 1955, in Boston, MA, to Frank and Anne McGrory. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1973 and earned a Bachelor's degree from the Boston College School of Management in 1978. Steve led a successful career as a media sales manager and business development executive for radio, newspaper, and digital media corporations, including CBS Radio, Boston Globe Media, Infinity Broadcasting, and Gannett. Steve was a dedicated and loving partner, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne (née Butts) McGrory, and is survived by his partner, Sandy Upham; his father, Frank McGrory; his daughter, Evann (Michael) Blanchard; his son, Ryan McGrory; his sisters, Jane McGrory (Paul Chadason) and Diane McGrory (Patrick Barr); his brothers, David (Gretchen), Tom, and Tim McGrory; his nieces, Emily Barr and Ryley McGrory; his nephews, Sean Barr, Liam McGrory, Christopher McGrory, and Matthew McGrory; and Sandy's sons, Matthew and Michael Morrill. Donations may be sent to Boston College, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467, for the Reverend Father George B. Gray Fund, which was established by the McGrory family in 2002 to provide financial aid to BC students. Memorial Service private.

I was so sorry to hear of Stephen's passing. He was a great person. My sympathies to his family and everyone who's life he made a better place.

Dear Evann, Ryan, Sandy, and entire McGrory Family,

I just learned of Steve's passing. I want to express my deepest sorrow for your loss and the loss of the multiple people Steve touched in his life. To me, he was a mentor, of sorts. We were never able to put it together in being able to work with one and other. We always crossed paths. We were able to laugh together. We developed a great and meaningful friendship that I value enormously. The friendship grew through the year. It grew in meaning to me and I hope Steve. When he first told me of this horrible condition, we had made plans, at some point, for me to fly to Boston so we could laugh in person. Sadly, those plans never manifested. That one is on me. My fault.

I want you all to know that Steve's infectious positivity remains in everyone who was impacted by it. Through thick and through think, his friendship never wavered. He was a spark in any dark room. That is a rare gift. A gift Steve gave to the world. A gift Steve gave to all of us whom he touched.

I wrote something on Steve's FB Page that "The world just got a little darker and Heaven just got a little brighter". I truly believe this. Please know that each of you will remain in my prayers and we will all see Steve again. We will all be laughing, together one day.

To the Entire McGrory Family, Please accept our deepest Sympathies. Stephen was Boston. He knew the Radio Industry better than anyone out there. I can speak for everyone that has come in contact with him in the industry. If you Met Stephen McGrory, you learned a ton from him in a short while. He made everyone better, and his quick wit will never be forgotten. As time moves forward, please know it supposed to get easier. His presence and his youth is a very huge void that will never be fully filled. He will continue to live in Everyone's Heart that he has toughed. RIP Stephen, and know that Heaven has gotten a much better deal than Earth going forward. You will be missed!!
